Me to We talks about their Artisans program. This program which enables women to make the Rafiki bracelets, really stood out as a positive innovation because this program partners with thousands of women in Kenya and Ecuador which helps empower these women to help themselves, their families, and ultimately, their community ("Supporting Communities").
The overall impact of this innovation is that it provides disadvantaged communities with job opportunities and a sustainable source of funding. Me To We could be looked at as a global force for good and enables people to do good through making life choices. With such a high amount of people living in poor living conditions and fear, Me To We knew something had to be done.
The short term effects of this innovation is allowing these people in need to have satisfaction in knowing what they are working towards will benefit them as well as the others around them.
We would think that most if not all of the employees at Me To We would view their innovation as a very positive thing (“Work with Purpose, Make a Difference: Careers at WE.org.”"). The company knows that they are helping people that are in need which is the solid foundation that Me To We is based on. Me To We also hire many of their workers at a young age and help them move up in the company over time. Me to We has a strong alumni system for those employees who decide to move to other organizations, that way they can still contribute to the company and their goals (“WE Alumni and How They Created Impact: Careers at WE.org.” ).
Me To We is constantly breaking new records within the company as they always try to donate 50% of their profits to the WE charity every year . This past year Me To We was able to donate 90% of their profits to charity and that is something that the company and its workers pride themselves on (“Partnership with WE Charity.”).
Me To We offer a "Track Your Impact" code from their retail products and this code shows customers what their purchase contributed to the WE charity. This can be accessed at the top of their main website under "Track Your Impact" (“Products & Experiences That Make an Impact"). Customers can see where their money went and what ways it helped out a community. Some of the proceeds from their artisan goods go to schools and water systems where many disadvantaged people live ("Our Beliefs").
According to the US Sustainable Development Goals, Me To We is aligned with many of the 17 goals listed. Most of these goals benefit society such as having no poverty, decent work and economic growth, reduced inequalities, zero hunger, and gender equality ("Our Beliefs"). One goal that benefits the environment is helping build sustainable cities and communities.
