Overview

Openly is a new, innovative consulting company that helps businesses reach different sustainable development goals, this includes non-profit, philanthropic, and social purpose enterprises across Canada. Openly, was founded in Guelph, Ontario by two women, Tanya Darisi, and Lisa Watson. These women are passionate about the work that they do, and want to help take steps closer to a more sustainable world. The initial idea behind Openly was wanting to help others make a positive change in their community and beyond. Lisa and Tanya believe that if everyone made a small contribution to helping the problem, we would be living in a more sustainable world. Companies are attracted to Openly as they find new ways to help make their business focus on becoming more sustainable in whichever way they feel is needed. Openly works hard on providing their clients with exactly what they need to help them. They are a team of well rounded, intelligent individuals who promise to stand by their values of sparking change, building relationships, adapting to changes, being curious and open to new ways of thinking and much more. They are always trying to improve their own company as well as others.

As a company, they care so much about the world they live in and the people they work with. Their mission to elevate the hearts and work of a million change makers.

Inspiration

The original idea behind Openly was inspired by the idea to empower businesses to make an overall impact in their day to day work. Co-founders Tanya Darsi and Lisa Watson created Openly with the question of “How can we create a larger social impact?” Working separately, they came together to work on a project aimed towards new pathways to education. They realized that they both shared the same values and had the same vision for greater social good, which lead to Openly.


Lisa and Tanya want nothing more than to spark change in their community and to help others do the same. They are motivated by the idea of a better world and will do whatever it takes to achieve it. Working alongside many other social purpose companies, they create a network driven to improve the sustainability issues our world is facing.


Overall impact

Openly’s success is driven by their values and they benefit themselves by building their business through these values. They are continuing to expand their values so they can create impactful change in all different ways. They are doing good by helping others which results in their company being responsible for helping hundreds of people struggling with a variety of issues. Openly is continuously bringing in more and more clients who are realizing that they need new ways to invoke change in their community. They work with such a variety of people that they are able to impact everything in need of better change.

Openly benefits itself mainly by building their business through living into their values. This means that with every new step they take to achieving their goals of making the world more sustainable they become more reliable and achieved. They work hard to constantly update what they stand for so that they can address all social issues that the world is facing. Openly strays of the path of a regular consulting company by working with social purpose, nonprofit and philanthropic enterprises in order to help the world and not just their company and their clients. Openly supports the network to bring people together who share social purpose values. They believe that people are stronger when working together and they stand by creating relationships in order to achieve their goal.


Openly benefits the society by helping people in need in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Openly provides facilitating, written proposals, and more to social purpose businesses who are in seek of discovering new and important ways to help their community. Openly provides what the clients need to implement a plan to success.


Openly is not only focused on human related issues. They have tackled almost every sustainable development goal so far, including environmental goals.


Since Openly is relatively new, they have not seen any repercussions that could affect them in the long term. However, they have successfully achieved their main goal of partnering and networking with those whose values are impactful change related, and they will continue to build their network as time continues. We predict that eventually more businesses will want to take action to take part in the solution to making the world more sustainable.


Business benefit

The innovation behind Openly; although new, has helped numerous businesses create and implement successful impactful change in their community. This is beneficial for both Openly and the company they are consulting with. Openly helps businesses do what is morally right. This promotes the consulted business and results in more positive press. Openly gains business because companies want to have a more positive impact in the eyes of their community so they will look to a company such as Openly to help them promote a new program that benefits struggling customers or more eco friendly customers.

Social and environmental benefit

Openly provides companies with workshops and facilitation of design processes that lead to new interventions, programs and services related to social impact. They also develop networks and system changes across a range of social issues. Openly has worked to improve housing and homelessness, health and mental health, addictions and wellbeing. They have also done work with inclusion, belonging, immigration and settlement. They reach such a wide variety of issues where they help people in lack of education get the education they need, gender equity in the workforce, employment and poverty reduction.


Openly provides facilitation to the public, private sessions and nonprofit partnerships. They focus on facilitating community engagement and co-design in order for their clients goals to be achieved. Openly does not exclude a social issue and will come up with the best solution to tackle the issue at hand.


As mentioned before, Openly is a new company so they have yet to expand their environmental impact, however, they continue to work towards creating a wider network of environmental purpose business to work with.
