Eker Süt Ürünleri addresses systemic employment barriers by directly embedding autistic individuals into its core manufacturing and administrative workforce. By forging strategic partnerships with specialized educators and support organizations to adapt workplace environments, this inclusive business model advances SDG 8 ,SDG 10 and SDG 17 through sustainable, dignified employment.
The “Otizmli Bireyler İş Gücünde” project was developed based on the belief that individuals with autism should not be excluded from working life due to social prejudices or a lack of opportunities. The project aims to create an inclusive working environment where autistic individuals can actively participate in professional life according to their abilities and strengths.
One of the most innovative aspects of this initiative is that inclusive employment is not treated as a short-term corporate social responsibility activity but rather as an integral part of the company’s culture. The project was inspired by inclusive employment practices previously implemented in France by CEO Jean-François, whose son is autistic. Drawing on these experiences and through collaboration with organizations specializing in autism, the initiative was adapted and developed within the company.
To facilitate the integration of autistic employees into the workplace, the company introduced various adaptations to the working environment, provided awareness training for staff, and established support mechanisms. In addition, a job coaching and mentoring system was implemented to assist employees in adapting to work processes and daily responsibilities.
Through this structure, the project demonstrates that autistic individuals can successfully participate in working life when appropriate support mechanisms and an inclusive workplace environment are provided. It highlights the importance of creating equal opportunities and recognizes the valuable contributions that neurodiverse individuals can make to organizations and society.

The inspiration behind the project was rooted in both social awareness and personal observation. Company representatives recognized that autistic individuals are often isolated from employment opportunities despite their capabilities and potential. They believed that businesses should play a more active role in creating equal opportunities and reducing social inequalities.
The company was also influenced by examples of inclusive employment practices observed abroad, particularly through its connections with French business partners. These experiences helped management realize that inclusive workforce models could successfully function within corporate structures when supported correctly.
Another important motivation was the belief that employment is not only an economic issue but also a matter of human dignity, independence, and participation in society. Representatives emphasized during the interview that every individual should have the opportunity to contribute productively to society regardless of their differences.
The project has created meaningful impact both within the company and in the broader community.
Inside the organization, awareness regarding autism, diversity, and inclusion significantly increased. Employees became more conscious about empathy, communication, and teamwork. Over time, the initiative contributed to a more supportive and inclusive workplace culture.
For autistic employees and their families, the project created opportunities for greater independence, self-confidence, and social participation. Families who previously worried about their children’s future began to see employment as a realistic possibility.
The initiative also helped challenge stereotypes surrounding autism in professional life. By directly integrating autistic individuals into the workforce, the company demonstrated that differences should not be viewed as limitations but rather as part of workplace diversity.
In addition, the project has become an inspiring example for other businesses interested in developing more inclusive employment practices in Türkiye.
The initiative strengthened Eker Süt Ürünleri’s reputation as a socially responsible and sustainability-oriented company. Employees became more engaged with the organization and developed stronger emotional connections to the company’s values.
The project also reinforced internal teamwork and corporate culture by promoting empathy, patience, and collaboration among employees. Managers observed that creating an inclusive environment positively influenced workplace communication and employee satisfaction.
Beyond social impact, the initiative demonstrated that diversity and inclusion can contribute to long-term organizational sustainability and strengthen relationships between businesses and society.
The project contributes significantly to reducing inequalities faced by autistic individuals in social and professional life. It creates awareness about the importance of inclusive employment and encourages society to reconsider common stereotypes regarding autism.
The initiative also helps autistic individuals gain social visibility and independence while encouraging families to feel more hopeful about the future of their children.
One of the strongest messages of the project is that inclusion should not be based on pity or charity but on equal opportunity, respect, and recognition of human potential. The company’s approach highlights that individuals with autism can become active, productive, and successful participants in professional life when supported appropriately.
