Since the beginning, ARO incorporated Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) into its core values to help solve the UN SDGs. They recognized that every choice they made - from the materials they used, the production practices of the suppliers, and the actual chemical recipes - could make a difference. This led to their commitment to sustainable practices such as the implementation of a bottle reuse program, where ARO developed pick-up mechanisms of the specific product bottles in order to reclaim and reuse the bottles, reducing waste and promoting a more environmentally friendly way of consuming.

These goals are the foundation of Belle's where they work to transform animal boarding.

Caring Transitions is an ideal franchise-based solution for senior relocation, downsizing, moving, and estate liquidation. Their services address the needs of a large and vital piece of our population, providing families with support during major life transitions and difficult estate decisions. Starting with relocation, Caring Transitions offers compassionate assistance throughout the moving process,  ensuring seniors feel heard and prioritized as they transition to retirement homes. With this, they provide downsizing and decluttering services to help seniors organize and manage their cherished belongings.  By alleviating the physical and emotional challenges associated with these changes, the company enables seniors to navigate life transitions with greater ease. Additionally, Caring Transitions offers home clean-out services and estate sales to help seniors offset some of the costs associated with housing relocation. 

We interviewed, Dave Osborne, the co-owner and co-founder of the Caring Transitions - Beach Cities franchise located in Orange County, California. Dave Osborne decided to open his own franchise with his wife and partner Mary Beth Osborne  after recognizing a significant gap in services tailored to the senior market. Drawing on his real estate background, Dave saw this venture as an ideal opportunity to support his community, particularly seniors who were often unprepared for future life transitions. 

Since opening, Caring Transitions - Beach Cities has assisted 100s of seniors with their moving, estate liquidation, and downsizing needs with premiere care and respect.  Their goal is to be the single call solution for all senior services, continuously enhancing their team and offerings to address every possible need in the area. Built on a foundation of respect and compassion, the business is best summarized in Dave’s own words: “While we are a for-profit company, the best form of payment we receive from our clients is in hugs and appreciation.”

Caring Transitions Beach Cities aims to help solve the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goal #3, which promotes good health and well-being, and Goal #10, which focuses on reducing inequalities.

The business we chose to investigate and find out more about their innovations is a public, for profit business called Shoboraj. Shoboraj restaurant is one the famous restaurants in Newport South Wales founded in 1993. This authentic Indian restaurant focuses on SDG 2, zero hunger. It appears to be a lively place some nights that brings out the best of Indian culture, mixing classic flavors with a modern dining experience. During our interview we asked twelve concise questions that gave us a story to write and formed responses to talk about the restaurant's innovation, inspiration and impact on the world around them.

This initiative not only enhances employees' skills but also contributes to the well-being of their families and communities, aligning with various SDGs, such as reducing inequalities (SDG 10) and decent work and economic growth (SDG 8).

In their business model, they have fostered internal growth by identifying talented employees and promoting them to key managerial positions or even offering them partnership opportunities. In terms of service, they have focused on enhancing the customer experience, leading to increased loyalty. Furthermore, they have made significant strides in technology, including the installation of solar panels and the implementation of water recycling systems, thereby optimizing resource usage and promoting sustainability.

Optics as a Driver of Innovation and Sustainability

Mol Optics, through its commitment to innovation and sustainability, contributes to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of "Health and Well-being" and "Responsible Consumption and Production." We interviewed Eliseo Juárez, CEO of Mol Optics, to discuss the company's vision for improving visual health, which goes beyond just selling lenses.
