Pitching Antibiotic Resistance Breakers (ARBs) as one of the prospective solutions to save the life of existing antibiotics, Mr. Saransh Chaudhary - CEO of Venus Medicine Research Centre (An R&D Unit of Venus Remedies Limited) called Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) “a global public health hazard than a regional crisis that will eventually subside”.
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is an evolving problem, in the words of Mr. Ban Ki-moon (former United Nations Secretary-General) "Drug resistance imposes huge costs on health systems and is taking a growing-and unnecessary toll in lives and threatening to roll back much of the progress we have made". A review paper published in 2014 showed that by 2050, the estimated number of deaths due to AMR is expected to reach 10 million/year and it may cause a cumulative loss of approximately $100 trillion to the global GDP if left unchecked.
Through the ARB approach, Venus Remedies Limited seeks to preserve the efficacy of existing antibiotics to improve the health of people and relieve global communities from prospective economic stress. (SDG & 3)

According to the World Health Organization, environmental pollution kills about 6,500,000 people a year. The decrease in gases when having the electric vehicle is 4,000 KG of CO2 per year. The environment throughout history and over the years has suffered great environmental impacts mainly due to economic and technological growth and excessive consumption of the population. Among the main advances in the world, we find the means of transport.
In Bogotá Colombia, we have approximately 2.4 million vehicles circulating, of which 50% are cars, 20% are motorcycles, and 14% are vans. Only 5% corresponds to public service transport and 2% are taxis. This means that for every 3 inhabitants there is one motor vehicle. (Omar Oróstegui, Movilidad Bogotá).
By 2010 Bogotá generated around 10 million tons of CO2, one of the main gases causing global warming. In the Ministry of Environment, it was found that the sector with the greatest responsibility in the generation of carbon dioxide is transported with fossil fuel energy sources because it generates approximately 60% of these emissions. In addition to the environmental damage, we also have that due to the high vehicular flow noise pollution is generated.

Jose Luis Nieto - General Manager of Playa Koralia, explains that, through the services offered, they seek to minimize how global tourism leaves a giant carbon footprint that both leads to a large-scale environmental degradation around the world and exploits relatively isolated and previously unspoiled natural areas in popular travel destinations.
According to the Hotel and Tourism Association of Colombia Cotelco, Magdalena chapter, at least 60 percent of the tourists that arrive to this capital city access the services offered by informal methods in its different presentations. Visitors stay in houses, bungalows, and apartments that do not pay taxes, they hire tours with fake agencies, and buy food from street vendors.
Moreover, the tourism promoter Pro-Rodadero assures that the situation of El Rodadero is critical due to the bad behavior of visitors that have been responsible for enhancing informality and responsible for gradually destroying the marine flora and fauna. She argues her theory based on the fact that 70 percent of the people who visit this area, practice the so-called "paseo de olla" (pot walk). (El Tiempo, 2019)
The above data, suggests the impact on marine species such as turtles that grow up with plastic in their bodies and that eat marine debris. Food waste is also identified, "in the world around 598 million tons of food are wasted, 3.54 of which are generated in Colombia", literally, what is not consumed goes straight to the trash. (El Espectador, 2021)
In addition to these environmental impacts, people lack responsibility with themselves. They are aware that going on vacation is synonymous with poor diet, high alcohol consumption, or simply going to bed to sleep, which minimizes the chance of optimal wellness and health for the mind and body.
For this reason, Playa Koralia seeks to contribute to sustainability and provide awareness for a more responsible tourism for each person. This leads to the care of the environment because it brings privatization to areas due to the lack of awareness of its visitors. Jose Luis Nieto - General Manager - explained.
--------------------------------------------------

Calo Jabones, was created with the purpose of solving the environmental problem generated by the incorrect disposal of the (UCO), which, among others, is considered one of the main contaminants of sewage water, with a high probability of damage to the different ecosystems that inhabit them.
Daniela mentions that, "until today, it is not easy with certainty to know the real and total contamination generated by 1 liter of wrongly discarded oil, however, we rely on the estimate that is handled, that 1 liter of oil can contaminate up to 1,000 liters of water, which is an important amount, which boosted us even more, to give a real attention to this product".
According to data from the Bogotá aqueduct company and the article "Cooking oils, another threat to aquifers" published in 2019 on the website of the Bogotá environmental observatory, the results of several national and worlwide studies evidenced and supported on the impact of 1 liter of UCO on the environment, obtaining contamination figures from 1,000 liters and up to 40,000 liters of water.
Calo Jabones decides to direct its interest, project and work in three main approaches: Educate, Collect and Recycle. Oriented to move in a circular way, to provide a solution to this situation, they start by teaching people the correct way to use and collect the product, they have been creating different mechanisms of final collection and points for temporary storage, once removed from these places, those are being entirely transformed into biodegradable soaps for daily use for the home.
Currently, they are working hand in hand with the mayor's office of municipalities such as La Calera, with UCO collection projects in residential zones. Likewise, they are approaching environmental corporations to begin working on these issues with neighboring communities. Also, they are carrying out an awareness process with restaurants and cafeterias, supported by Resolution 316 of 2018, showing them the risks that the UCO generate for health and the environment, exalting the importance of proper management and disposition.
The Cocoa Renovation Program helps solve five of the UN SDGs: no poverty, good health and well-being, quality education, decent work, and economic growth. The program focuses on the growth of smallholder producers. Nahua’s field technicians and agronomists work with these smallholder producers to make sure they have all the knowledge and skills possible to be successful at what they do. Volunteer doctor visits are also provided as an option to ensure all farmers, their families, and other families in the remote areas are not neglecting their health.
Colombia presents an environmental, political, and social problem with bees. In the first instance, rural apiaries are in danger of the misuse of chemical pesticides for agricultural use, which is why bees have migrated to cities and these are vulnerable and rejected by the population due to the fear they generate. In recent years, about 16,000 hives have been lost per year. (Humboldt Institute - 2020)
“Andrea owner of Melifera, says that the biggest problem in the world is the society that doesn't know how to take care of the environment and within it the bees. They mention that for every 10 foods sold in the country, 7 are pollinated by bees and that is one of the most important activities in the world”
In the political arena “Colombian beekeeping doesn't have a beekeeping law that exclusively regulates the development of the activity and that adopts specific measures for the management and control of bees and their products. However, there are other rules of a general nature, that are related to the management of some of the activities carried out in the different phases of the production process” (Alexander von Humboldt Biological Resources Research Institute - Sustainable Biotrade - Year 2008). To this scenario we must add the difficult political environment that this issue has in our country, there is a huge legal void due to the private interests of large business.
The approach that Melifera has as a company dedicated to beekeeping in the city is to improve the interaction between citizens and bees and this integrates environmental aspects, having a main focus on the academic and social aspects. Today the company has three apiaries in the city with more than 50 hives.

SAI's agroforestry model addresses the two plights being the tribal and marginalized farmers face: poverty and land alienation. The model combines planting regenerative trees in paired rows on the barren land with intercropping of traditional food crops. Pulpwood from the trees provides income stability through SAI’s partners in the paper industry, and the intercrops provide nutritious food and additional seasonal income. This business model- B2B2F that is business to business to farmers ensures that the pain points of all stakeholders are addressed.
