As a female minority who owns a small business, Jennifer is committed to her employees. The TerraCycle innovation is their Zero Waste Boxes. From candy and snack waste boxes to protective equipment, this innovation ranges from all different areas. The Zero waste boxes, first introduced in 2014, allow customers to buy a box, fill up with their waste items, and then ship it to the company to then be converted into reusable products!

Salt & Straw's community

It is highly odd to see Salt & Straw, an Ice cream chain to be giving back to the community much less helping them. However, Kim Malek and Tyler Malek (Kim’s cousin) dreamt of being able to grow their community and become a place to casually hangout.

Salt & Straw is not exactly known to have or been highly innovative of an idea. However, they have created some unique twists on their flavors that is not so easily made or recreated as well as not commonly served. This was all thanks to their curious nature of putting in capital and investing in different ice cream makers as well as learning different methods of creating ice cream. These unique methods of creating ice cream, along with the different flavor combinations they have tested helped innovate their current and previous lines of flavor available to the public.

A Better Packaging for the Environment

St Hubert, a food company that mainly sells margarine, is committed to nutritional improvement and is the first signatory of a charter of voluntary commitments to nutritional progress as part of the National Nutrition and Health Program. They aim to offer to their consumers products that are of high quality, tasty and responsible.

To do so, they recently designed a new packaging which is better for the environment than the basic plastic one. Thanks to the 70% substitution of plastic packaging by cardboard - which is made from wood from sustainable forests exploited to be renewed - this innovation has helped to reduce St Hubert's carbon emissions. Thus, they achieved SDGs 12 and 13, which are the use of a more responsible consumption and production system, and the addressing of climate action.
