Dwiyono transforms the eggshell waste to become painting and handicrafts then sell it for local and export market. He also creates wealth for surrounding community by inviting them to collect eggshell and sell it to him. His small business also contributes to reduce waste problem for the environment.
A production house named "Cang Kang", where Dwiyono create waste of eggshells and woods that are discarded and considered to be no longer useful to become valuable art creations that can generate profits such as paintings, lamps, tissue boxes, pencils case, toothpicks box, jewelry box and others.
In 2005, Dwiyono was awarded by Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) as the initiator of the first eggshell painting in Indonesia.
Started with desire to utilize the eggshell waste in his home and his dream to become a painter since childhood, Dwiyono began realizing his dream to paint, not with oil paints that mostly used by painters, but with eggshell that is usually thrown away.
In his mind, eggshell has a good and deep philosophy where egg represents the beginning of life, which reminds him of his mother who gave birth to him. Seem the eggshell is fragile but it is incredible strength, weatherproof, waterproof and scratch resistant. In addition, Dwiyono see eggshell is easy to obtain, light and has a lots of color variations.
Be creative with this eggshell to create arts has its own impression for Dwiyono who teach him to be patient, focus and not easily give up, which is also applies in day to day life.
Dwiyono always see any kind of waste such as small wooden, woven yarn up to unused pans, can be transform into artwork, as long as we want to innovate, willingness to learn, have confidence and patience.
Dwiyono with his small business contribute to reduce waste problem for the environment by collecting the eggshell that usually throw away to the garbage. Furthermore, he also creates wealth for surrounding community by inviting them to collect eggshell and sell it to him.
Initially, Dwiyono offers various products of his work in various festival markets, which turned out to get a positive response and liked by the people of Indonesia. Dwiyono is aware that business is not only recklessness investment. But a businessman needs knowledge in managing everything, including financial management, production management and even time management.
Dwiyono diligently attended various trainings, read books of business and asked other business people. He began actively looking for various business networks including YDBA which has various business programs that he thought can be utilized to grow his business. YDBA make him more optimistic for his business with various training programs he participated. Not only that, YDBA also makes Dwiyono has a lot of networking. Through the market facilitation program provided by YDBA, such as Inacraft Exhibition and Trade Expo Indonesia that make its business more widely known to the public. Up and down in business is also felt by Dwiyono, but with patience and not easily give up make his business keep sustainable.
Dwiyono's craft products are not only sold locally but also have been exported to other countries, such as America, Turkey, Dubai, New Zealand, Holland and London.
In the midst of his busy designing the craft of eggshells, Dwiyono also took time to share his knowledge for free to others and hundreds of drop out teenagers who want to learn eggshell crafts at the city of Jakarta, Bekasi, Bali and Lombok. He wants to transfer the experience and insight to open a business as well as effective product marketing techniques so that others who are less fortunate could change their lives and contribute to enliven the world of SME’s Indonesia.
Dwiyono is often invited as a speaker on the utilization of waste to other areas in Indonesia, especially to educate the younger generation to be able to see something that is discarded and useless into something useful and create income.
By sharing knowledge, Dwiyono does not need a big space for his business because he can buy the crafts from others who have been trained by him thus he generated wealth for the community, in addition, he also helps to reduce waste in the surrounding environment.
