Summary

Kossiwa Tossoukpe and Eugenio Rotondi started KESecurix as a way to be a resource for underrepresented and marginalized groups in society. Today, they continue to work to connect young people with security companies and police forces that feel that diversity in security companies benefits society.

Innovation

KESecuix works to find young people from disenfranchised groups that want to be in the security sector, but either do not know to get in or feel as though they are not welcome and there is no place for them in the area. They do so but looking at current global security issues, such as terrorism and civil wars, and evaluate how police and military with and without diversity respond to similar situations. KESecurix connects people with business owners who want to help those who aspire to work in security. KESecurix also provides mentorship programs for any and all areas of police and military exams, whether it is the application process, the written exam, or the physical exam.

Diversity in Security

Inspiration

When Tossoukpe started in the police academy in Zurich, Switzerland in 2008, she was the first female of African descent to have done so. After being hired as a police officer, she was inspired to help those who would come after her in the security sector to have greater access to opportunity. She wants to help institutions change their mindset on diversity. “The community itself wants change. It is often the institutions that are reluctant and also do not know how to approach and how to recruit who they need.” She and her partner work to help break down the barriers of the institution and assist police forces and companies to do so.

Overall impact

KESecurix may be in the earlier stages of its development, however, it has already accomplished a great deal. Tossoukpe and Rotondi have attended conferences about diversity in security. They have amassed a great following on social media platforms, as well as had a number of blog posts on their website, where young people are talking to other young people all over the globe about diversity in security. They have connected interested people to companies that value diversity in their security workforce. KESecurix provides a hub for information in an area where information is few and far between.

Business benefit

By creating the KESecurix website and social media pages, Tossoukpe and Rotondi provide a way for companies to invest in their security departments with a diverse selection of people who want to be there and want to give their perspective to their company. KESecurix helps those who want to enter the police force to accomplish their goal, thereby helping police forces and militaries be more diverse, which could provide new perspectives on how to solve certain projects.

Social and environmental benefit

KESecurix works towards more inclusion and diversity. They do that by focusing on promoting good health and they want to partner to achieve their goals. On their website, it allows people of all ages and from all over the world to connect and help each other with the stresses of their field mentally. They partner with a number of firms to ensure that they are aware of the opportunities in this field.
