Carbonstop is China's first carbon management software and consulting services provider that serves to help enterprises calculate, analyze, manage and report their carbon emissions. Carbonstop had successfully developed a native version of carbon management software for China: CAMP (Carbon Accounting and Management Platform). This self-developed product has been used by more than 100 domestic and foreign customers for carbon emissions management.
"No quantitative, No management". According to international and domestic carbon accounting standards, Carbonstop can provide scientific and accurate carbon emissions accounting service to reduce carbon emissions.
In 2009, for the first time in Chinese history, China put forward a target of reducing its carbon footprint in the Copenhagen Climate Conference . Mr. Luhui Yan, the founder of Carbonstop, brought back the techniques from UK while he was working in the carbon emissions business system to China in 2011 to start the business in Beijing.
At that time, two years after the establishment of national standards, Chinese enterprises still had no foundation for carbon emission management accounting, no standard for carbon emissions business. After developing systems to calculate the emissions of companies, Mr. Yan has expanded the company from 2 people to 20 people. The team members are mostly with master's degrees in information technology and carbon management major with the background knowledge and excellent experience in carbon management. They developed certifiable carbon management models that are aligned to GHG (Greenhouse Gas) protocol and ISO-14064. These models analyze data to pinpoint opportunities for business. According to international and domestic carbon accounting standards, Carbonstop can provide scientific and accurate carbon emissions accounting service to reduce carbon emissions.
Carbonstop can develop a certifiable organizational or product-based carbon management solution for organization. This can help boost sales, enhance the corporate brand and identify cost savings and product-development opportunities. Carbonstop also assesses value-chain carbon footprints to identify broader risks and business opportunities around international markets, pricing strategies, and entry points for new products and services.
Mr. Yan knew that China put forward the target of reducing carbon for the first time in Chinese history at the Copenhagen Climate Conference in 2009. With a great passion of this global issue and a deep concern about his own country's environmental problem, he returned to set up a company to develop business opportunities in China.
Because Chinese enterprises had no foundation, no carbon emission management accounting, no standard for carbon emissions business, Mr. Yan wanted to develop a Chinese local version of standard to suit China’s market.
Mr. Yan: "China launched the carbon trading market in December 19, 2017. The government has set the emission quota, and businesses need to decide whether to buy or reduce emissions. Calculating emissions and looking at the direction of emission reduction from an economic perspective is a gradual process.”
In 2015 Paris Climate Conference, a Paris agreement-emission reduction, China's national carbon emissions was issued to local governments and enterprises. How can carbon emission enterprises such as power generation, steel, cement, etc. accomplish emission reduction targets?
Mr. Yan: “My understanding about innovation is that when there is a market need, you find a grounding solution to meet the needs in a different and effective way. Market demand is the prerequisite.”
China started the national Carbon emission trading market in 2017. To date, with the launch of this trading system, Carbonstop has provided training, counseling, software and low-carbon internet-related products and services for more than 500 corporate organizations.
With the continued efforts of Carbonstop, hundreds of millions of individual users have their own carbon accounts. Ms. Deng: “By recording low carbon behavior in people's daily lives, such as walking, less driving, garbage sorting, and so on, it is quantified to account for carbon reductions in personal carbon accounts. Through positive incentives, encourage the public to take the initiative to choose low-carbon behavior and make environmental protection fun, making low carbon a universal phenomenon for everyone.”
Ms. Wu: “To me, the best part during this journey is when we start being known by the market, the process from unknown to be known. More and more clients start asking about us, our products and services, seeking for advises from us. And during these interaction, we get to know more about our clients’ pain-points, and in return we could provide better services.”
Carbonstop’s main business also includes carbon emission management consulting and training services. The principle of "no quantification; no management" is pursued. According to international and domestic carbon accounting standards, Carbonstop can provide scientific and accurate carbon emissions accounting service to reduce carbon emissions. Through the digital discovery and the solution of carbon emission reduction, the enterprise organizations reduce their impact on the environment while saving the cost.
Carbonstop provides training, consulting, software, carbon neutralization analyses and other products and services to customers. In the process of interaction, the company understands the needs and feedback of the enterprise and becomes a well-known company in this field, making innovation sustainable and helping enterprises to achieve the goal of emission reduction and energy conservation.
In June 11, 2018, the "green energy conservation joint initiative" was initiated by 12 institutions, such as NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council), WRI (World Resources Institute) and WWF (World Wildlife Fund), which made detailed initiatives on the four major aspects of industry, architecture, transportation and life.
• To build green industry, especially to pay attention to and help small and medium-sized enterprises to dig into the potential of energy conservation, to establish and improve the sustainable energy management system, and to develop the green supply chain.
• To promote green building, consummate the standard system of building energy efficiency, support the development of energy efficiency of urban accelerating building, reduce the energy consumption of refrigeration, and carry out energy saving activities with node as the center.
• To have green transportation will build green traffic, promote urban green transportation planning, optimize transportation structure, promote the upgrading of energy conservation and environmental protection technology, encourage consumers to travel green and choose clean energy vehicles.
• To advocates green life, saving electricity and a drop of water. It has become a conscious action to practice low-carbon environmental protection and reduce carbon emission.
Carbonstop works with their customers to develop carbon management solutions and gain competitive advantage, and also bring positive energy to the society. In doing so they help society make progress in the four green initiative areas above. They hope that through their professional work can help organizations in cost saving while reducing their impact on the environment and also can move forward on sustainable development.
