Established in 2001, Maxfx specializes in the cinematography business of capturing moments like wedding ceremonies, social gatherings and other events. The company has a unique style of covering cinematic shots and is famous for cinematography. An average Nepali has to pass through several rites and rituals, religious ceremonies and other social events. Amongst them, the wedding ceremony is probably at the centre for which family members freely spend their money. “Maxfx is designed to capture this unique demand through its lenses”, says Prayush Manandhar, the owner of Maxfx.
Though marriage ceremonies are expensive social events, not much focus has been paid to capture this event. Usually someone amongst the family will take responsibility for taking the pictures. However, with the arrival of high resolution cameras, there is a paradigm shift in peoples’ attitude towards photographing and videographing social events. Here is where Maxfx, an audio visual company, got started with an innovative idea of capturing the social events and selling them as a lucrative business to high-end customers willing to pay the price. With regards to wedding ceremonies, they believe in capturing feelings and emotions that couples experience during their day. It's not just about clicking the picture of a ready to wed couple but it's about capturing their experience. Clients who have worked with Maxfx are very satisfied with the service provided and they do appreciate the hard work and effort that the Maxfx team puts to make their wedding event a lifelong memory. The company owners along with crew members have wonderful thoughts as “Respect comes with Quality which last longer”. In spite of intense competition, the company stands alone and distinct from others.
Experience can be one of the valuable learning's out of one’s life. Prayush Manandhar, the owner of Maxfx had this life changing experience while studying in London at the “School of Science and Technology”, Alperton house.
Since his childhood days, he had an interest in photography. Definitely, life in UK never became a bed of roses. To continue his study, he joined a video editing company as a part time worker. This experience turns out to be valuable asset back home after completing his study in Hotel Management.
After coming back from UK he was looking for a business venture, he thought of starting a business of video/photographing and editing business of wedding ceremonies and other social events. He got this inspiration as he has personally lived the experience in UK. This turned out to be a unique business in Nepal.
With 11 years of experience, he has now been able to capture the market for videographing wedding ceremonies in Nepal. Currently, there are 4 members in his team. Over the years he has also managed to expand his business beyond wedding ceremonies to the production of travelogues and institutional profiles and documentaries for INGOs and NGOs in Nepal.
Other companies focus on price but Maxfx focuses on quality. And people chase for their quality screening and presentation, this has ultimately impacted on company profit. This company has been able to hit on the clients mind that “yes they can still get their important day captured like those in foreign countries with high quality in affordable prices”.
Being a self-owned company, there is flexibility in business working hours; moreover, you become your own boss. Since the business is related to the media sector, one had an opportunity to build networks and develop communication skills as the job demands meeting and knowing hundreds of people coming from different backgrounds.
“Because of quality work and high demand, the business does not need to worry about profits”, says Mr Prayush. Investment is one-hundred percent safe. The case of Maxfx business tells us that you do not need to look for jobs once jobs start looking for you.
After spending four years in UK, Mr Prayush is familiar with the tools, techniques, ideas of his business and effectively he is transferring these skills to Nepal.
Maxfx is a small privately owned business company and offers no big employment opportunities. However, its social contribution comes from instilling inspirational values among the younger generation to pursue their area of interest and earn their living from it.
Maxfx is currently at the phase of development. It has future plans to organize training sessions for the aspiring photographers and videographers. Obviously, this will lead to creation of opportunities for self-employment. This is expected to contribute towards addressing the goals of economic growth and reduce poverty.
