Summary

Garbage or waste is one of the problems that needs to be managed efficiently and effectively using an environmentally friendly approach. There are many ways to treat waste, but current practice by burning it is not an environmentally friendly way. Fabric waste is difficult to process because it is an inorganic waste that is not biodegradable. Although it is not the most substantial waste, it is worth noticing because there are only a few fabric waste processing industries that are advanced in processing waste with diverse technologies.

Innovation

Felt Recycle Material is the output product of fabric waste. The company, RMA (Rekadaya Multi Adiprima) takes this patchwork as a business opportunity, where previously they only relied on imported felt from South Korea. By empowering the communities to be RMA employees, the mother, housewives, scavengers, can bring patchwork of industrial waste textile home to be sorted. The fabrics is sorted by color, and the patchwork is the base material for the felt used as one of the automotive components. Felt is synthetic fabric that is made through the process of weaving. It is highly absorbent and is used for the roof of the car interior.

RMA invested huge money to process fabric remnants into the felt materials industry. In addition to reducing environmental waste, with this new industry RMA improves the lives of people and is preserving the environment by reducing waste fabric remnants.

Non-woven Division is one of RMA's main products in the form of felt recycled material. RMA is able to support the need for felt recycle in automotive industry. In total, they supply 70 % of national production for companies such as Toyota, Suzuki, Daihatsu, Mitsubishi, Hyundai, and Hino.

Rosalina strives to manage growth, considering that there are many people impacted by her success. By expanding the product and enabling the communities, RMA is able to do more for the business, as well as for their partners.

Currently RMA has four felt oven machine lines and two lines of needle felt. From their perspective, that is no extraordinary thing. It is only the way business is supposed to work.

She is also making the communities’ around her factory have a better live in and they have sustainable life.

Business benefit

She makes the Fabric Recycle Material by themselves. RMA invests its money to buy a machine production of fabric waste - remnants. By that machine RMA can process the fabric waste to be Felt Recycle Material. They have a profit from that activity, the members of the community around the factory have a job, but it goes beyond the people, environment and the nation and also the planet.
