Cleaning products contain extremely harmful materials for our health and aquatic ecosystems.
54% of the products that we consume correspond to cleaning supplies, food and lubricant products, and 74% of these elements end up in a sanitary landfill. In Colombia we are generating 1,250,000 tons of plastic per year.
According to Jaime: "The philosophy with which the project began is not to use any single-use plastic, on the contrary, to take advantage of the containers that you have at home to refill them with cleaning products. We also designed a logistics distribution model that achieves the optimization of product delivery and reduces the environmental impact.”
================================================
The sea is the source of food for humans, generates employment for the fishing sector and is the habitat of more than 700,000 marine species reported by the Superior Council for Scientific Research. According to the United Nations (UN), 13 million tons of plastic waste reach the world's seas.
In Colombia, according to a study carried out by Green Peace in 2018, plastic consumption is estimated at 1.2 tons. Around 56% are single-use plastics (packaging, packaging, PETs, among others); and only 17% is recycled, the rest goes to landfills. Additionally, 54% of the packaging came for personal cleanliness or industrial products and lubricants.
Ecosapiens eliminates the use of plastic bottles that conventional cleaning products have, so each shampoo bar represents a contribution of -2 plastic containers per person and these products last twice as long as traditional products. There is an approximate reduction of 3 thousand containers per year.

In the last 13 years alone, deforestation has wiped out 43 million hectares worldwide, wiping out forests and jungles on a massive scale and causing immense damage to soil quality. Forests still cover about 30 percent of the world's regions, but swathes the size of Panama are inevitably lost every year. These are the figures from the latest report Deforestation fronts; causes and responses in a changing world published by the NGO WWF in 2022.
Deforestation in Colombia today faces one of its most critical moments, with a 10% increase in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021 and a trend that, if immediate action is not taken, will leave severe impacts especially in the Amazon. Figures from the Ministry of Environment report 50,400 hectares deforested between January and March 2022, while for the same period in 2021 it was 45,500 hectares. And in an update of figures presented by the same portfolio, in the last two decades the loss of forest in Colombia exceeds 3 million hectares. This environmental crisis will not wait and hence the urgency of a new route to reverse the excessive increase in deforestation, from a preventive and comprehensive strategy that addresses the contexts of the territories and their communities.
As its CEO Sandra Sanchez tells us "We avoid the overproduction of furniture where there is logging, we have to use a lot of chemicals, metals, all the inputs that are part of the production of furniture, where we use all this material to equip the workspaces at the corporate level and how we started to get this message understanding that we must deliver functionality and quality, which is why we have concentrated on making reused and reconditioned furniture and promoting the circular economy".

Manila Healthtek Inc., led by its founder and CEO, Dr. Raul Destura, develops low-cost, accurate, and portable diagnostic tools available to all Filipinos. These developments allow Filipino patients, regardless of socioeconomic status or distance from urban areas, to get more equitable access to healthcare diagnostics. In turn, they are able to receive the correct and timely management for their condition. Furthermore, these developments also allow Filipino scientists to maximize and develop their talents and contribute to the country's healthcare system. Additionally, the company also minimizes its waste disposal. Being a company that uses molecular raw materials for their research helps a lot in minimizing their waste management, so they are able to produce their products responsibly. To put things into perspective, Dr. Destura mentioned that the amount of waste that Manila Healthtek Inc. produces amounts only to approximately one small bag every six months. In total, all of these factors allow Manila Healthtek Inc. to address five of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly (how each SDG goal was addressed will be discussed in the latter part of this article):
SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-being
SDG 8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth
SDG 9 - Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
SDG 10 - Reduced Inequalities

Play Black Wall Street pioneers an educational ecosystem focused on improving the financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills of Black youth through two avenues: a board game and a near peer-to-peer mentorship system called the LiT Program. Astungkara Way's business innovation is threefold.
1) It aims to restore rice ecosystems in Bali by getting rice farmers involved in transitioning from chemical farming into healthy rice farming and finally into non-chemical farming which is referred to as regenerative farming (Regeneration International, 2017).
2) Considering that the transition to regenerative farming requires several cycles with fewer yields that farmers can't afford (World Business Council for Sustainable Development, 2023), Astungkara takes advantage of Bali's hot-spot tourist destination and involves tourists through ecotourism-regenerative hiking trials to get a more authentic Balinese experience.
3) The enterprise aims to encourage young people to get involved in farming and agriculture.
