Textile production is responsible for 20% of global wastewater and 10% of global carbon emissions according to a UN report. The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) said that as consumers demand increasing change, many companies recognize the problems and seem eager to see sustainability as the new "business." This, together with the desire to do good, has prompted Maaji to commit to innovation and research in new materials, processes, and the development of products that are more environmentally friendly, and to undertake actions to mitigate and offset the environmental impact. Maaji uses non-virgin materials, and digital printing, which uses less water, to reduce the impact of packaging materials and transform textile waste into higher value products. Thus, the company is responsible to society and meets the demands of its customers and the market.
“Being sustainable has always been important to Maaji. We have analyzed where we have been and where we are going, we recognize that we can do more and we are committed to doing so,” says Amalia and Manuela Sierra, founders of the company.

The Philippines is an agricultural country robust with rich natural resources where around 40% of its land is conducive to producing crops. For decades, farmers have used chemical-intensive fertilizers and pesticides that boosted crop production. However, in the small town of Pulilan, Bulacan, this vibrant farm -- Kalipayan Natural Farm and Restaurant, returns to its roots by offering fresh produce through natural farming. They also promote a broader mission of pioneering a fully integrated and sustainable living environment.
Natural farming is a method where they only use organic materials to cultivate and enrich the soil. This was used before farm modernization tools and techniques replaced them. Since this uses no chemicals and other synthetic substances, it preserves the richness and vitality of the soil, enabling the crops to preserve its nutrition. In the absence of harmful substances, this also fosters a healthier and more livable environment.

In Colombia, domestic demand for fresh blueberries has been growing significantly and given that, in the country, production is constant throughout the year. It is projected as one of the main export products, of agricultural origin, for the next few years.
Although Mexico, due to its proximity to the United States, will be the main supplier. In Colombia there are better climatic conditions, mainly in the Cundiboyacense highlands. In this region, which is the fifth in order of importance in hosting rural population and with 47% of women according to 2019 figures, women are the ones who have the lowest occupancy rate (34.6%) compared to the urban population and in contrast to the occupation of men. Additionally, the participation of women in activities in the agricultural sector is almost half that of men, which makes it necessary to create greater and better opportunities for women in this sector.
On the other hand, the large amount of products coming from the field are usually contaminated through the use of pesticides and substances used in the fertilization of the land used for cultivation. This is why agricultural production has profound effects on the environment and is the main source of water pollution by nitrates, phosphates and pesticides. In addition, agricultural, forestry and fishing methods are the main causes of the loss of biodiversity in the world.
For this reason, Urosalud SAS through ethical, responsible, clean and ecological production, generates a positive impact on the health and well-being of consumers while creating growth opportunities for women in the region.

“71% of older adults do not have a retirement, they do not have a pension”; this type of population is not taken into account the labor field as productive, and what this brand seeks is to enhance the experience that grandmothers have to create products "with love, detail and affection." They also hire mothers who are heads of families to make these products, since "31% of mothers who are heads of families live in extreme poverty." In Colombia, 65% of people who have a physical disability are not active at work, "to solve this problem we hire people with reduced mobility in electric wheelchairs that do not emit gases or carbon dioxide in Medellín and Envigado."
On the other hand, it is estimated that worldwide there are approximately 5 billion plastic items in the oceans, for which Bohío Playa works to reduce the impact that plastics have on the seas and water resources of Colombia, reusing waste of plastic bottles to turn them into raw material for the manufacture of clothing where around 5 bottles are used for the manufacture of a single shirt and in turn reusing the cotton waste from "Fast Fashion" due to the fact that the textile industry It is one of the industries that produces the most pollution in the world.

The Colombian Amazon has a great ecological diversity, as one of the most harmonious and significant regions worldwide, highlighting its biodiversity and the existence of different indigenous peoples that have been maintained over time. Traditionally, to obtain their food, the natives cultivate in the chagra, a system initially dominated by women, but where men have also been involved, and which is a complement of the Maloca. In the chagra, fertility spaces are developed, traditional dances, couple relationships and births.
The idea arises after the experience in the area of one of its founders, Laura, and is based on a project that allows to have a way to the Amazon from the interior of the country through the Ají Yuquitania. Laura, an anthropologist who in 2014 started this project as a hobby, later associated with Alejandro, an anthropologist with Management studies. Together they transformed the project into a business, strengthening work relations with the indigenous people of Vaupés and Guaviare and also with some farmers who cultivate Ají.
Today it is a growing project. Its direct relations based on friendship, honesty and full of stories with peasants and indigenous peoples, as well as access to technology, have facilitated and preserved the link of these anthropologists with the Colombian Amazon.

Within the sustenance of the community is the production of articles made with handmade fabrics, which are marketed to tourists in an informal way in the squares and streets, however, the community has seen an overexploitation of the product and a low-cost remuneration for the labor, time and materials that it entails, which has generated precariousness and poverty since it depends on the tourist season and time of year, added to this, in the current pandemic situation income and sales have decreased considerably due to the impact that this has brought to the tourism sector. According to the decision-making report of the DANE (2020) in the National Unemployment rate, the Guajira is located with 7.9% for the year 2017 that has been increasing to 11.9% for the year 2020.

Ant Forest is an environmental initiative launched by Ant Group to encourage users to reduce carbon emissions in their daily lives. It is designed to help people to develop low-carbon consumption habits in the long term. In Ant Forest, users' low-carbon activities are recorded in their “carbon account” and those activities are converted into “green energy” points within the platform. These activities can include riding a shared bike, working online, and making an electronic payment, which can reduce resource consumption and carbon emissions. Alipay gathers data from different apps to calculate the points. Once they accumulate a certain amount of points, users can choose to plant an actual tree in some of the driest areas in China. Ant Forest funds the planting, while local governments, professional institutions as well as local farmers will plant the trees in cooperation. Ant Forest has become China’s largest private sector tree-planting initiative. In 2019, it received the "Champions of the Earth" award, the United Nations' highest environmental honor, for its significant contributions to the environment.

Globally around 1.3 billion tons of food is wasted annually, representing around one-third of the food that is produced. The hospitality industry accounts for approximately 15% of this food waste worldwide. Orbisk developed a food waste management system for the hospitality sector that tracks and predicts food waste using innovative technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI). This smart food-waste monitor, with the ability to tell exactly what, when, and how much is thrown away, provides actionable insights and helps the hospitality service industry prevent food from being wasted, and aids in preventing the associated inherent CO2 emissions, energy, and water spillage.
Cultivos Selectos S.A. has innovated by implementing hydroponic systems in the cultivation of many of their products such as heirloom tomatoes, lettuce, and strawberries. Also, they have innovated by using 90% organic pesticides and only 10% traditional ones, by preventing soil erosion, and by reforesting areas where the river basins are located throughout their properties. This company helps solve the UN's SDG number six because of their responsible use of their water sources. Secondly, they help solve SDG number nine because they have adapted to using environment friendly systems in their production. Thirdly, they help solve SDG number twelve because they responsibly consume the water, pesticides, and land needed for their production.
Through their production process using natural dyes and ethical labor practices, Entreaguas freshly innovates conventional customs in the industry. They diverge from the traditional production system in clothing manufacturing, where companies tend to mass-produce low-quality, short-living products that exploit the use of resources, their laborers, and generate considerable chemical waste. They target SDG 12 - Responsible Production and Consumption, by conscientiously using resources, responsibly managing chemical waste, and discouraging a generation of wasteful consumption. Moreover, the company concentrates on SDG 5 - Gender Equality and SDG 8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth, by employing local, single mother artisans that carefully produce “art pieces.”
