With a foundation in “care for the customer” and a commitment to sustainable practices, Manila Water Company aims to improve the water quality in Metro Manila and surrounding communities. Previously, clean water was inaccessible to lower income communities in the capital city of the Philippines, but Manila Water is bridging the gap through preservation of water sources and proper water treatment while making it affordable for marginalized communities. Today, Manila Water continues their mission through constant improvement of their water filtration systems and quality services to their 6 million customers.
Banyan Nation is a recycling venture from India started in the year 2013. It is a technology-driven plastic recycling venture which is working towards creating a circular production economy. Banyan does this by eliminating inefficiencies in India’s recycling industry by innovating across the chain, from the initial process of recovery to final process of recycling. Pak Widodo Ariawan (COP Manager) mentioned that PT Holcim Beton, a subsidiary of PT Holcim Indonesia, is on track to implement the Corporate Social Responsibility: 3P (people, planet, profit) especially in big cities (Jakarta, Surabaya) area by developing products and services which give value added.
VAS (Value Added Solution) division at PT Holcim Beton was created to make products and serivces that closer match the customer needs (pains).
In 2013 this VAS division of PT Holcim developed Trucrete, a porous concrete which combined with a drainage system can pass water (rain water) to the ground and secure soil water level which can prevent flooding during rain season and provide soil water during dry season. Trucrete system can be implemented in pedestrian, jogging track, soccer field, and even run way in airport.
With Trucrete PT Holcim supports two from 17 of Global Goals: Clear Water and Sanitation and Climate Action.
Mexican indigenous communities are occupied by people who live their culture in its full form. “Etnia” embraces this fact and seeks to empower these groups to produce handcrafts and to value them not as souvenirs but as a true art form changing the mindset not only of locals but also anyone who might be in touch with the Mexican culture and its value.
The goal for this project is to someday achieve economic independence for these communities and their inhabitants, demonstrate that their work is of great value, and give them the strength and structure they need for them to keep a steady form of income with their business.
Bueno Y Sano, founded by a University of Massachusetts Amherst alumnus, Bob Lowry, is a family-owned chain restaurant that serves to "make people happy". Bueno Y Sano, translated from Spanish to English, literally means "good and healthy", which supports the Number Three United Nations Global Goal for Sustainable Development of "Good Health and Well-Being". Bueno Y Sano is known for their handcrafted burritos, use of fresh ingredients, emphasis on local procurement, and pride in having over 95% of their restaurants staffed and managed by an El Salvadorian family, many with long tenure.
The economy of Mexico is composed mainly of small and medium size companies. Most have a hard time training their employees due to lack of capital.
Ternium's ProPymes program, along with the Government of the State of Nuevo León, is a catalyst that develops and strengthens SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) with the objective of creating well-being and sustainability within the value chain. The objective is that Ternium's clients or suppliers maintain or improve the competitiveness of their products, services and business processes.

This story is about ecological logistics. It shows how a new transporting system with small trucks named CityLogin was implemented by FM Logistic to offer an ecological transfer solution through Moscow city centre, where big trucks are prohibited by law. The project is about small eco-friendly trucks powered by natural gas which help to deliver products to the city center! This is a collaborative and sustainable solution that creates value for all supply chain stakeholders.
The business introduced a program they call "Pay It Forward." Customers pay for a pizza box, at $15, decorate the box, and donate it to a cause special to their hearts. This draws people into the business, boosts positive advertisement, and allows the company to build a positive reputation, allowing the word of mouth to help further the reach of this outstanding program.
Dwiyono transforms the eggshell waste to become painting and handicrafts then sell it for local and export market. He also creates wealth for surrounding community by inviting them to collect eggshell and sell it to him. His small business also contributes to reduce waste problem for the environment.

An average household in the United Kingdom wastes around 400 pounds of food every year, simply because people forget about the contents of their fridge and let the products expire. "Frisch" is an innovation that wants to solve this major issue and thus contribute to food waste reduction.
For our project, we interviewed Giuseppe Castelli who works as a construction manager for the company Barr & Barr. In the interview, he discusses how long he's been working as a manger and some of the techniques he uses that he finds are most effective when doing his job. The purpose of this interview was to discuss different ways that this company is working toward making a positive change in society. Not only are they innovating and promoting the build up of infrastructure, but they are beginning to work towards doing so while using clean energy. Giuseppe provides examples of how they have been doing so and explains how they hope to continue doing this in the future.
Old Window Workshop (OWW) is a woman worker-owned cooperative. Located in the Massachusetts Pioneer Valley, a former industrial hub for paper, textiles, and gun manufacturing in the late 19th – early 20th centuries, they are surrounded by old, empty factories that are being renovated and repurposed. Rather than replace the windows, developers, builders, and cities turn to Old Window Workshop to restore these very old and beautiful windows.
MASTER DECK supplies innovative, environmentally-friendly products for the construction, industrial and agro-industrial sectors, manufacturing wood plastic composite (WPC) using recycled wood and plastic materials. Through the manufacturing process, no waste is produced and the products are 100% recyclable. MASTER DECK takes pride in being the first Mexican enterprise to manufacture this material in Mexico. The finished product is very similar to traditional wood material used for constructing houses, but in MASTER DECK, the purpose is to be a sustainable enterprise focusing not only in profits but also in caring for the environmental.
