As students from the University of Dubai, we were honored to interview Mr. Sundar Raj, the general manager from GreenBags UAE. GreenBags UAE is the first company to produce Eco-friendly bags that are made in the UAE. The use of these innovative products will help society reduce the use of materials that harm the environment. The company aims to increase the awareness of the importance of a healthy green environment through the products that come from naturals resources without making any risk to the environment. Natural jute products give strength and long life to the world.
GreenBags USE creates bags and accessories made from natural materials that are reusable, recyclable, and biodegradable. These materials are the best alternatives to plastic bags. The company believes that every individual has a social responsibility to reduce environmental impact. Customers are welcome to share their ideas on becoming greener to increase the protection of our beautiful earth.
Innovation is all about what people need, said Mr. Sundar, explaining that the company's formation started uniquely, unlike other innovative projects. GreenBags listened to the customers' wants and needs and were able to spot a gap in the market. They started in 2008, and it was at the same time that the UAE government started awareness of the importance of securing and protecting the environment by encouraging people to use eco-friendly products. However, the company already had an arrangement in India to increase the importance of using eco-friendly products to save the environment. GreenBags can print any company logo or slogan and create awareness among the people by advertising on the bags.
The company's idea is to allow customers to design their own bags with the features that are available in the company. As Mr. Sundar said, the person behind the whole idea is the Managing Director of the GreenBag company, Mr. Aboobacker Yousuf. This innovation aims to have a sustainable society that is safe, secured, and healthy for the coming generation.
Mr. Aboobacker Yousuf saw that people started to use eco-friendly bags that are made from recyclable and useful bags all over the world, especially in Europe. He was inspired by them and started to work on the idea in the UAE at the right time when His Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum introduced the idea of using eco-friendly products to reduce the use of plastic that would harm the environment. The company was the first to be encouraged to use cotton and other materials to produce fashionable and eco-friendly bags. They followed in his Highness Shaikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum's steps as His Highness said, "Sustainability is our top priority."
In 2008, the idea was launched to promote sustainable and eco-friendly products. The high point was when the customers accepted the ideas that the company provided. Mr. Abubaker and his team wanted to replace the use of plastic with bags that are made from eco-friendly materials. The bag will play a huge role in increasing the awareness of reducing the use of materials that might harm the environment and increase environmental awareness. Moreover, the company strategy is to listen to the customers' wants and produce a product that will satisfy the customer with the best quality, prices, and outstanding results. As Mr. Sundar Raj, the company's General Manager, said, “Innovation is all about what the person needs." The company's role is to provide customers with their needs using eco-friendly products that will not harm the environment.
This innovation benefits the business in various ways. Firstly the company started the idea in 2008 when the UAE government started to encourage people to use eco-friendly products. Since the company was the first to start using eco-friendly bags, they were well known for their high quality and affordable prices, increasing the demand for eco-friendly bags and increased customer loyalty. Moreover, the company played a huge role in increasing awareness among people that every individual is responsible for saving the environment and its wonderful creatures. The company produces different types of bags made from eco-friendly materials, have different sizes, affordable prices, and are available for adults and kids, from fashionable bags to school bags.
The innovation of using eco-friendly bags helped the environment to reduce the use of plastic that will harm the environment. Due to the condition of COVID19, it is safer to use your own bag that is reusable to reduce the chance of getting affected by the virus. As we know, plastic can release harmful chemicals into the surrounding soil, which can then seep into groundwater or other surrounding water sources and the ecosystem of the world. This can cause serious harm to the species that drink the water. Furthermore, plastic can cause cancer, and it's a nonrenewable resource that harms the environment in different ways. Our role is to save the environment, and the easiest way to take part and save our earth is to replace plastic with eco-friendly products available at the GreenBag company.
