Today Energryn is the company with more success in sustainable innovation
in Mexico: the only Mexican company awarded with the Innovation Prize by the Pacific Alliance in the category of Environment and the only company from Quintana Roo that has won two times the Fund of Technology Innovation (FIT by its initials in Spanish) from SE and CONACYT. With 9 patents, they are the company with the most patents in the world in the fields of Solar Water Heating. With just 8 kg. of weight, Solesyto is the solar hybrid water heating system with the smallest ecological footprint in the world. Energryn has been chosen as the company with the most social impact in 2017 by the Shelter Tech Mexico program hosted by Habitat for Humanity, Village Capital and
Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter.

"Energryn has helped solve various aspects of the daily lives of Mexicans. Statistics show that more than half of families in Mexico bathe in cold water because they lack a water heater and only 2% of homes in our country have a solar heater. The innovation of “solesyto” directly contributes to people with low purchasing power, to take a bath with hot water, without compromising their income or incurring orbiting expenses." This is aligned with the sustainable development goals of “GOOD HEALTH & WELL BEING”; dignifying baths for marginalized communities.

Another problem that it solves, is AFFORDABLE & CLEAN ENERGY; because it uses solar radiation to heat the water and it does it with an easily accessible technology and very friendly costs.

The heater "Solesyto" is patented as the heater that generates the lowest carbon footprint in the world, and the business has also incurred in the hotel industry for water heating, which makes the infrastructure of hotels improve with this innovation, taking care of the objective of INDUSTRY INNOVATION & INFRASTRUCTURE of the SDG's.

The ecological footprint of the solar heater “Solesyto”, compared to an LP Gas heater, reduces CO2 emissions by 80%, contributing to reduce pollution and therefore benefiting the environment in favor of CLIMATE ACTION. Additionally, the heater is produced with 100% recyclable materials, which makes it an alternative that is environmentally friendly.

Innovation

"The company set out to offer the service of providing hot water at low cost. Initially, the business model consisted of assembling and commercialization of its flagship product “Solesyto”, an innovative hybrid water heater (solar-electric) developed and patented by them, where the main source of energy comes from solar energy collection."

"This product has been specially designed to resolve the hot water necessity of people living in the countries of the Pacific Alliance and because of this reason Energryn and its product represent Mexico as a successful case of innovation for the environment in the Pacific Alliance."

This patent is certified by the Asociación de Normalización y Certificación A.C. (ANCE) as the hybrid water heater with the lowest ecological carbon footprint in the world, weighing only 8 kg and heating 80 liters of water.

Energryn, Hybrid Technology

This is the interview with Andrés Muñoz, CEO & Co-funder of Fricaeco América, a disruptive company in the renewable energy business.

Inspiration

“My father, a thermodynamic engineer who came to visit me in México said, You can go back to Spain and we can all stay in our comfort zones. Or you can stay here in México, quit your job, and we can put all of our strength and brainpower and skills into developing this prototype and changing the lives of people."

"Mexico is the country with more Gas LP consumption per capita in the worldwith an average consumption of $400 pesos monthly." In 2017 Gas LP has increased its price by 35%. Mexico has been ranked tenth in the list of the world’s largest polluters. More than half of Mexico’s houses lack a water heating system. Just 1% of the houses in our country have a solar water heating system. "And all this happens in the country with the third best average solar radiation in the world." For the benefit of our planet and the future of our children and grandchildren Solesyto was invented, an ecological and low cost water heating system.

Overall impact

  • Because it’s manufactured in Mexico the price of Solesyto does not depend on the dollar.
  • Solesyto, the hybrid water heater with the smallest ecological footprint on the world.
  • Delivery time of ten business days because it’s made in Mexico.
  • It does not require imports nor to pay a 15% tariff by the CSA.
  • Product delivered to your home by Estrella Blanca
  • The profit generated by innovation stays in Mexico.
  • Product designed for Mexico’s conditions and Mexican communities.

Business benefit

The innovation benefits the business through its innovative, profitable and disruptive business model, as being the only company to provide hot water as a service.

Social and environmental benefit

Solesyto is a green low cost solution that replaces the gas boiler. It is a hybrid water heater where the main source of energy is the sun. Its spherical shape allows it to receive direct and diffuse solar radiation throughout the day. Its electrical part guarantees the availability of hot water even in bad weather in a safe, economic and ecologic way. It generates the lowest carbon footprint in the world.

This product has been specially designed to resolve the hot water necessity of the people living in the countries of the Pacific Alliance, mainly in Mexico and because of this reason Energryn and its product represent Mexico as a successful case of Innovation in Environment in the Pacific Alliance.
