Summary

Danos has developed a division of the company dedicated to costal protection and restoration. They have partnered with Natrx to produce modular concrete forms specifically designed for coastal protection. With this partnership, Danos is able to produce two forms, Oyster Breaks and Cajun Coral, providing support for the coastlines.

Innovation

Danos has partnered with the company Natrx, building custom-made exoforms and producing modular concrete structures specifically designed for coastal protection. Danos produces two forms, Oyster Breaks and Cajun Coral. Oyster breaks are large, circular forms used for stacking and breakwater scenarios. Cajun Coral is more ideal for shallow water, and resembles natural coral.  Danos is able to use these two forms for various applications, making them great for our variable coastlines. They offer protection for the marshland, serving as barriers. These structures also provide great habitat for small fish, plants, and crustaceans, enhancing the ecosystem and providing protection.

Inspiration

Danos has planted its roots deep in the Bayou Region of Louisiana. The loss of our coastline is something that directly affects the communities and areas surrounding Danos, which motivated them to step up.

Overall impact

Danos’ coastal initiatives have greatly impacted Louisiana’s coastlines and ecosystems. These innovations combat erosion and help rebuild Louisiana’s coast. While preserving and protecting the coast, these environmentally friendly structures also enhance the nearby ecosystems. They act and resemble natural cover, protecting many species of plants, fish, and crustaceans.

Business benefit

Danos has expanded its operations into a new market. This has allowed them to hire new employees and speed up their production processes. Danos has hired 10 new employees dedicated to the coastal initiatives, providing income and jobs for the local communities.

Communities and customers are satisfied with their efforts to preserve and protect the coastlines. These innovations are impactful and strengthen Danos’ reputation.

Social and environmental benefit

To begin with, Danos' coastal initiatives protect communities from storms. These forms protect the coast, which ultimately protects the coastal communities from harsh wind and storm surge.

These initiatives also help the environment by offering natural-looking cover to the local ecosystems. These structures offer great habitat for small fish, crustaceans, and plants.
