In 2017, after months of research and attending workshops conducted by the ministry of health and other experts in skin care products, Laressa along with her soon to be husband and co-founder, Arga establishes SURI THE GOODS, a locally empowered natural personal care products to bring the natural goodness of Indonesia to market.
"In establishing SURI THE GOODS we envision our selves not only to be economically empowering but both also socially and naturally empowering. We want people to know that there are good quality commodities in West Sumatera but they still not well known by people."
SURI THE GOODS is a personal care business committed to providing natural and locally sourced products that empower the local farmers of West Sumatera both economically and socially. 18 Months after the establishment, SURI THE GOODS manage to become a member of Indonesia's Organic Community, which aim to promote a healthier lifestyle for Indonesian people. Now SURI THE GOODS managed to earn good amount of profit while still maintaining their aim to actively empower local farmers of West Sumatera and bring the natural goodness of Indonesia to customers. The potential of healthier lifestyles campaign and awareness from Indonesian people also has attracted potential partners to scale up SURI THE GOODS business but also empower their good cause, giving the business strong addition for their innovation sustainability.
The innovation added sufficient improvement to the use of locally sourced ingredients for SURI THE GOODS personal care product. SURI THE GOODS committed to earning well by doing well, so the initiative to empower local farmers and stakeholders could not be reduced even the slightest. Laressa mentioned, "It is my dream for the local farmers of West Sumatera and Indonesia to fully know what their commodities are best known for, therefore they will transform their mindset from commodity trader to entrepreneurs that provides value-added products."
