Technology significantly boosts electrification productivity in remote areas  and on ships, enabling the use of electricity beyond just lighting. Pragistio commented “One of INFIEN’s challenges in developing renewable energy (RE) in Indonesia is the issue of financing. Currently, although the number of banks offering low-interest financing is still limited. The majority of banks in Indonesia still offer high interest rates, which is a significant challenge for RE projects. On the contrary, my experience in the Netherlands shows that government support in the form of subsidies and financing methods provided by banks facilitate the implementation of RE. Therefore, increasing financial support and policy measures in Indonesia are important steps to accelerate the development of RE in this country.”

Despite facing competition and challenges, their knowledge and team, which have been active since 2018, have maintained resilience and sustainability. Inspiration

In 2015-2016, Firmansyah, the founder of the company had an interesting experience while working as a marketing area supervisor and territory analyst at one of the leading cigarette companies in Indonesia. During that period, he traveled to various regions in Indonesia and found that many areas still experienced irregular power outages. 

From this experience, Firmansyah began to think of solutions to address this issue, especially in areas rich in natural resources like sunlight. He believed that renewable energy, such as solar energy, could be the right solution to help Indonesia, which consists of many islands and remote areas, and make electricity more affordable.

This drive inspired Firmansyah to seek solutions, and eventually founding INFIEN. The company's vision is to be a "one-stop solution" for the Indonesian people in using environmentally friendly renewable energy, more affordable, and optimizing Indonesia's natural resources.

INFIEN developed an innovation that focuses on customers, whether in the form of service or product efficiency. Apart from that, the desired innovation for INFIEN is innovation that can always adapt to the latest technology. Therefore, they develop tailored energy solutions based on specific customer needs, whether for industrial, commercial, or residential sectors.

Pragistio said that they want to provide innovation to customers, both service and efficiency and they do it on their own. “Implementing solar panels in-house, INFIEN has its own engineering, design and implementation. Because we do everything ourselves, we have to keep up with the latest technology. The renewable energy industry, like the cellphone industry, changes every year. New versions always appear, adaptation becomes mandatory“. With the Energy Management Systems (EMS), INFIEN uses the latest technology today to implement their product and controlling the operational in the field to be able to see the accuracy and efficiency of performance, without having to go to the field, everything can be completed in the office. As the renewable energy challenge, they have to adapt all the time to survive and winning the competition on the industry.

Overall impact

INFIEN offers a single solar Photovoltaic (PV) system as one of the pioneer companies in Indonesia. INFIEN started from providing components for Engineering-Procurement-Construction (EPC) companies to now becoming one of the EPC companies and providing Solar Power Plant installation services in various regions with On-Grid, Off Grid & Hybrid systems. The innovation helps commercial and residential customers to achieve efficient energy usage with affordable, easy to install and even easier to run power plant. INFIEN already has a lot of experiences and good installation certifications and use the best products for solar panels. In an effort to strengthen the Indonesian economy, developing job opportunities is one of the key aspects. Along with the expansion of the industrial and technology sectors, it is hoped that more quality jobs will be created for the community. "This also helps the Indonesian economy. If we look at Indonesia, there are many foreign companies that want to participate in competing in business in Indonesia, but we start with several components, like in local raw materials, local employees and of course that is very helpful in improving the Indonesian economy and increasing job opportunities," said Pragistio. In an effort to get local content which is quite difficult in its requirements, INFIEN continues to strive to get quality local content in advancing the Indonesian economy and can continue to compete with other countries as added by Pragistio, "Yes, although the local content requirements are quite difficult, it will still be attempted because currently we are also competing not only in Indonesia but also from foreign companies who want to have similar businesses in Indonesia. We clearly also want to improve the Indonesian economy, don't want to lose this opportunity to other countries". Therefore, INFIEN continues to invest in local content that not only can provide direct economic benefits but can also strengthen Indonesia's image in the eyes of the international community.

On the other hand, down streaming of materials and components is also one of the main strategies in increasing added value to local products. By processing raw materials into semi-finished products or finished goods, Indonesia can reduce dependency on imports and can utilize natural resources optimally. "Maybe the priority is also for component down-streaming, we also participate in the program.", said Pragistio. Of course, these efforts are strengthening the domestic industrial sector, create new jobs, and support Indonesia's better quality and sustainable economic growth.

Social and environmental benefit

To run a business in general and especially at INFIEN, of course it focuses on customers. Pragistio said that "Impact on customers means helping customers in every segment, whether residential or industrial, to achieve efficiency, reducing energy costs for customers. Secondly, there are several consumers who are committed to 100% carbon reduction in a certain year, and INFIEN help them to make that happen." Storage solution, which is one of their products, provides reliability for electricity so that it can help and maintain customer production activities. By developing clean energy technologies, they help reduce reliance on fossil fuels, lower greenhouse gas emissions, combat climate change, improve air quality and reduce pollution.

Pragistio also said that "INFIEN is not just looking for profit, but also cares about the environment, reducing world emissions, helping the Indonesian economy. Many foreign companies want to contribute in Indonesia, but for INFIEN, contribution means a lot." They focus on local content material so they can help and participate in the Indonesian economy. Environmental problems, carbon reduction are not only a government problem, but this has become a global problem. One example that Infient focuses on for benefits for the community is electricity access in several areas. The definition of new electricity access is in terms of the benefits of electricity for lights only, but not in terms of the benefits of electricity as a whole. This happens in the development of disadvantaged, frontier and outermost (3T) areas in Indonesia.
