Summary

The goal of Ecoplore is to encourage eco-friendly travel in India by advocating hotels with at least 30% of their interior space covered by trees, whether they are constructed of mud, wood, stone, or any other native architecture. Unlike other hotels that are located in well-known towns or cities, all of these hotels are situated in naturally beautiful locations like riverbanks, mountains, and waterfalls. These properties also adhere to many environmentally friendly practices, such as composting, trash management, and the avoidance of plastic. Ecoplore currently individually visits and verifies 150 different hotels ad promotes each of them for being cozy, clean, tourist-safe, and upholding all the ecological qualities guaranteed.

Innovation

The innovation around Ecoplore is focused on providing safe and enjoyable eco-trip through its chain of eco-hotels. The primary function of Ecoplore is to enhance the customer experience of sustainable tourism while meeting their desired expectations.

As for the sustainable practices followed by Ecoplore, building construction where carbon emissions are at their highest is reduced by using local materials for construction, helping to reduce resource usage as well. The main goal of Ecoplore is to restore woods, rivers, mountains, and deserts to their original state through a pool of specialists that help create new eco-stays or turn non-eco-friendly locations into eco-stays. In addition to making travel enjoyable and responsible towards the environment, Ecoplore also provides safe and secure travel for women and also assures universal accessibility.

Eco-Tourism - The Sustainable Way towards Leisure

Inspiration

Ecoplore was founded by Prerna Prasad in 2016 after her surreal experience at one of the eco-hotels in Malaysia. Around that time there was hardly any particular avenue to access such lively and nature-oriented places which eventually gave Prerna the idea to start her own venture. Her primary objective was to make people aware of the brilliance offered by such eco-hotels without comprising on the leisure provided. She also wanted to cut down the time taken by people while searching through various such hotels on the internet and make this process completely hassle-free.

She was also aware of the fact that the environment is being taken for granted and that environmental problems need to be addressed. For the sake of the ecosystem, everyone must cooperate and this inspired her to launch Ecoplore for her desire to work for sustainability and the environment. Thus, Prerna blended her passion for the environment and her interest in traveling to bring about the birth of Eoplore.

Overall impact

Ecoplore impacts the environment by primarily supporting the United Nations Sustainable Developmental Goals of 11, 12 & 13. These SDGs are related to sustainable cities & communities, responsible consumption & production, and climate action. The United Nations Environment Program also commended them for achieving these SDGs.

By following SDG 11, Ecoplore creates a sustainable community of eco-hotels where the customers can enjoy the beauty of nature while also being responsible for it. They are also attempting to cut down on carbon emissions through various features and practices. For instance, the food served in these places is either farmed on-site or purchased from the local communities. Due to this, transportation expenses are drastically reduced, and in a way, carbon emissions are also decreased. Additionally, no food is wasted and waste management techniques are employed very seriously. Thus, achieving SDG 12.

For implementing SDG 13, Ecoplore plans and encourages the construction of eco-friendly hotels rather than conventional ones made of concrete. This would encourage improved environmental resource conservation, preventing environmental degradation and achieving sustainability. Ecoplore is also focused on putting into practice several environmentally friendly policies, such as not using plastic, using LED lights, and installing energy-efficient equipment thereby reducing the overall carbon emission and thus helping to curb the climate change issue.

Business benefit

Any new hotelier who chooses to construct an eco-friendly hotel will make a significant contribution to environmental protection thanks to Ecoplore's promotion of sustainable lodging. To boost the revenue of various eco-friendly homes and to raise awareness of these properties, Ecoplore has been advertising and assisting with booking for these properties. Through the implementation of SDG 12 which addresses consumption and production, Ecoplore gives benefits directly to the local communities. This is achieved by acquiring the food served in these hotels from either on-site grown ones or by purchasing them from the local community.

Social and environmental benefit

The average carbon footprint of the eco-hotels that Ecoplore promotes is just 9 kilograms per room per night, which is much less than the average carbon footprint of conventional hotels of 75 kg and the average carbon footprint of luxury hotels of 1000 kg per room per night. Only because of the efforts made by Ecoplore and the property owners is this possible.

In addition to providing a networked platform for eco-friendly hotels, Ecoplore supports the development and upkeep of eco-friendly hotels using environmentally friendly materials. Utilizing organic fabrics, LEDs, and biodegradable materials would result in significant environmental preservation. The majority of these eco-hotels concentrate on one or more environmental preservation techniques, like recycling, encouraging guests to use less energy, composting, water conservation, use alternative sources of energy while also encouraging sustainable and local businesses. Thus, in such varied ways, Ecoplore benefits the environment and society as a whole.
