Inspiration

Vince Gupta, CEO of Prime Plastic Products, initially pursued a degree in chemical engineering but later decided to switch to applied science. Gupta knew he had a strong interest in plastics but was concerned he might not be qualified to excel in this field. Over time, he learned one of the most important lessons of his career: With passion, you can achieve anything.

During an internship, like many other students, Gupta quickly noticed how much waste the company he worked for produced daily. He questioned why entire products were discarded due to minor errors and wondered, “Why is there no effort to salvage the rest of the product?” This realization inspired him to develop a business plan, which eventually became Prime Plastic Products.

Gupta’s goal was to create a business that balanced environmental responsibility with profitability. He wanted to delay the inevitable consequences of the increasing plastic waste in the country. What began as an automotive recycling project soon expanded to address household waste. Prime Plastic Products buys large quantities of recyclables, cleans them, and sells the processed materials back to manufacturers. 

Vince Gupta was determined to make a meaningful difference. He did not want to look back and regret not trying. He emphasizes that when you are young, you have far less to lose than later in life - so why not take risks? He firmly believes that making mistakes is the best way to learn, and making those mistakes while young is even more impactful. Gupta calls on young, passionate individuals to step forward and make a difference in the world.
