Furthermore, the couple's decision to incorporate sustainable practices arose when they relocated to the Wellington region. “When moving farms, there is an opportunity to make changes in how you operate,” one owner noted. By integrating innovative agricultural techniques from the outset, they aimed to align their operations with their personal sustainability goals, illustrating how personal values can drive impactful business decisions.

They turn unused hay and grain into compost and feed for other animals. Also, they create fertilizers. By doing so, they contribute to waste reduction. Similarly, they contribute to efficient resource use. As a result, they have improved the soil quality and reduced the environmental footprint. On the other hand, it achieves the Life on Land Goal. They have planned to plant more trees around the property. As a consequence they would improve air and water quality and support the local wildlife. Additionally, by doing Low tail Farming, they contribute to the preservation of soil health and promote biodiversity.

They have adopted low-till farming and use neutral fertilizers that are partially made of waste resources, and they compost. Therefore, they have reduced the soil disturbance which led to a reduction of waste and boosts the overall health of the ecosystem. Furthermore, they attempt to foster biodiversity by planting trees around their grounds, which would also improve the air and water quality. This helps maintain a balanced ecosystem. 

On the other hand, from what we have learned their impact on society goes much further than the two SDGs achieved. As one of the first farms in Ontario to implement sustainable farming practices, they have set an example for other farms. They educate their community and promote the adaptation of environmentally responsible agricultural methods. In addition to this, it has allowed Parallel Genetics to increase productivity and revenues. Thus, they have supported local economies and created job opportunities. 

Overall, Parallel Genetics has had an enormous impact in the environment and society. But also is an inspiration for the new generations who are developing business models that are responsible for the environment.
