Summary

CESMA Solar offers comprehensive solar energy solutions that enable homes and businesses to generate their own electricity cleanly and efficiently. Their model contributes directly to SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) by facilitating access to renewable energy, and to SDG 13 (Climate Action) by significantly reducing carbon emissions. Through their services, they promote the transition to a more sustainable and responsible energy system.

Innovation

CESMA Solar, founded in 2011 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, is a Mexican company specializing in renewable energy solutions, particularly solar photovoltaic systems. Initially focused on the construction of medium and low voltage electrical systems, the company shifted towards renewable energy in 2013 to meet the growing needs of its customers. Since then, CESMA Solar has developed a team of experts, including specialized electrical technicians and engineers, committed to the implementation of sustainable and efficient technologies. CESMA's innovation lies in offering energy solutions adapted to various sectors, from residential to industrial. The company stands out for its ability to handle complex projects in the industrial field, thanks to its in-depth knowledge of the applicable legal and technical framework. They use globally recognized brands, such as Canadian Solar and Fronius, to guarantee the efficiency and durability of their installations. In addition, they offer extensive warranties, including 30 years for solar panels and 10 years for inverters and microinverters, reflecting their commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Through its services, CESMA Solar contributes directly to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). By facilitating access to clean energy and reducing carbon emissions, the company plays a crucial role in the transition to a more sustainable future. Its comprehensive and customized approach enables customers not only to save on energy costs, but also to play an active role in protecting the environment.

Inspiration

The main inspiration to create CESMA solar, is that there was already a previous knowledge about technology such as the installation of servers, security systems, software and IT; they also performed infrastructure works so they decided to focus on the field of sustainable energy. As mentioned by our interviewee Luis Enrique Palacios, whom CESMA solar decided to appoint as project manager, "due to the global situation in terms of pollution and other environmental factors", he noticed that solar energy was a viable alternative to make sense to the company and solve the problem in terms of resources.

Overall impact

CESMA Solar's innovation has generated a significant environmental and economic impact in Mexico. Since 2013, it has installed photovoltaic solutions in residential, commercial, and industrial sectors, helping to reduce conventional energy consumption and carbon emissions. In states such as Jalisco, the State of Mexico, Chiapas, and Quintana Roo, its systems have enabled economic savings and greater energy independence.

In the short term, customers have noticed lower bills and the creation of specialized jobs; in the long term, it contributes to mitigating climate change and meeting sustainability goals. Its growth, national presence, and the trust of the sector reflect a real positive impact. Furthermore, CESMA is driving a new environmental awareness, where sustainability is a shared need.

Business benefit

Thanks to the company's decision to focus on solar energy solutions since 2013, CESMA Solar has experienced sustained growth in the Mexican market. This transition towards sustainable innovation has allowed it to establish operations in several states such as Jalisco, Chiapas, State of Mexico and Quintana Roo, expanding its customer portfolio and consolidating its national presence. The growing demand for renewable energy has generated higher revenues, which has allowed them to reinvest in technology, training and expansion, thus strengthening their business model. They have also established alliances in the states of Chiapas and Jalisco in photovoltaic systems, as well as with the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and the Mexican Photovoltaic Industry Association. They also seek to continue expanding into new markets, such as government suppliers and the construction industry.

The impact is also reflected in the generation of specialized employment. Thanks to its growth, CESMA Solar has hired technicians, engineers and administrative personnel, promoting the development of local talent in an emerging sector of clean energy. This not only improves the economic well-being of its employees, but also strengthens their retention by offering job stability and growth opportunities in an expanding sector.

Social and environmental benefit

By replacing the use of fossil fuels and firewood (common in rural areas), CESMA Solar projects avoid CO₂ emissions and improve air quality, protecting the health of families and contributing to climate change mitigation (SDG 13).

By offering customized solutions for homes, businesses and industries, the company has diversified its portfolio of services, opening new markets and adapting to different energy needs, as in this case, achieving partnerships with the construction sector and panel suppliers. This flexibility has led CESMA to be seen not only as a technical supplier, but also as a strategic ally in sustainability. Therefore, innovation has not only benefited the environment, but has been key to the company's success and commercial positioning by improving costs to offer the best possible services and most economical equipment.

Among its most outstanding works, CESMA has collaborated with Honda Mexico in the installation of 200 550W solar modules in the state of Jalisco, significantly reducing its carbon footprint.
