Summary

Bamboo is known as one of the versatile plants. Although currently many synthetic product manufacturers are more popular, bamboo is still inseparable from the daily activities of people in Indonesia. It's easy to find bamboo trees in any village in Indonesia. There are more than 100 types of bamboo in Indonesia which can almost be utilized entirely. Bamboo can be used as production materials as substitutions for plastics, woods or even metals. Bamboo is also useful for natural water source conservation.

Innovation

Starting in 2011, Mukkodas Syuhada formed the Banten Creative Community (BCC), a community of creative people to preserve the civilization in Banten. A year later, in 2012, he held a Bamboo Workshop in South Tangerang City and succeeded in gathering bamboo activists to strengthen the Bambu Nusantara Community.

There are some activities going on under several umbrellas:

a. Akademi Bambu Nusantara, established in 2015 , focus on education, workshop, training.

b. PT. Gemma Bambu Nusantara (GBN), established in 2016 , focus on construction work business activities

c. Yayasan Gemma Bambu Nusantara (YGBN), established in 2017, focus on social activities

Starting from 2019, YGBN has the management rights of a 3000 – 5000 HA land for plantations and bamboo industry in Tulang Bawang Barat district, Lampung province, Indonesia. This is a big leap for YGBN to prove their green business idea and socialization.

Bamboo to the World, Toward the Sustainable and Eco-friendly Business

Inspiration

Mukkodas has a strong commitment to bamboo as the central issue in his business. "My goal is to make bamboo to support sovereignty and resilience on all aspects: Housing, food, clothing, defense, security, energy, health, and the environment of Indonesia," he added.

Overall impact

An eco-friendly business, or “green business” is demonstrated on Bambu Nusantara business activities and together with their commitment to an environmentally sustainable future.

Using bamboo as a substitution for plastics, for instance, will be massively beneficial to our environment and future generations. The production costs of bamboo are extremely low due to the high volume of availability this material has, as well as requiring almost zero alterations to be made when producing products.

Not only does using bamboo products benefit our planet in the long run, but they work amazingly well and look amazingly good around the house. The natural style that now takes a major role in the setting of the home makes every day have a warm and comfortable feel.

From kitchenware to household items to decorative settings, the number of uses bamboo has is incredible and only limited by your imagination. On top of that, due to bamboo being a very durable material, everything made of bamboo will last a very long time.

Business benefit

Green businesses strive to have a positive impact on the environment and their community. Eco-friendly businesses deliver more than profits. But beyond the feel-good impact that comes with making the world a better place, environmentally conscious businesses cater to a rapidly growing market. Businesses that establish eco-friendly or green values or practices have an opportunity to grow market share and build loyalty among consumers now and in the future.

An eco-friendly business, or “green business,” is one that demonstrates a commitment to an environmentally sustainable future. Green businesses strive to have a positive impact on the environment and their community. Businesses that establish eco-friendly or green values or practices have an opportunity to grow market share and build loyalty among consumers now and in the future.

This can be achieved through many practices and strategies, for example, using bamboo as production materials as a substitution for plastics or even metals. All parts of bamboo are useful, and it is great for natural water conservation.
