Summary

LinkAja is the fintech company which was founded by the ministry of State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) in 2019 as part of the government mission to build the local & as the Indonesia National e-wallet brand. LinkAja is the product that is now combined from 6 previous famous e-money product such as TCASH, Mandiri e-money, UnikQu, tbank, t-money, & Finpay. LinkAja (or with the legal entity of PT Fintek Karya Nusantara) is operated under the majority shareholder coming from SOE’s and 4 Banks under National State Bank Association (HIMBARA)

Purpose: Encouraging the inclusion of finance & economy for upgrading Indonesia national economic growth

Vision: Become a national champion of fintech platform

Mission: Build an ecosystem and payment platforms as well as financial services in accordance with the community needs middle class / aspirants as well as MSMEs in Indonesia

Innovation

As part of the company's Sustainability Program, LinkAja launched the Women Empowerment program in synergy collaboration with Indonesia Batik Association (YBI), and it is fully supported by Femina magazine which it is utilizing the training platform signature of Wanita Wirausaha Femina (Female Entrepreneurs Program).

The purposes of the program are:

• Providing education to MSMEs to improve their economy scale

• Provide options for digital business development, especially in conditions pandemic COVID-19 which also affects the sustainability of MSME businesses

• Educate the prospect & opportunity of digital marketing

• Giving an opportunity for MSMEs, especially Batik craftsmen, to become LinkAja merchants


Women Empowerment

Inspiration

Batik is very important to Indonesians and many people would wear it to formal or casual events. Batik is commonly used by Indonesians in various rituals, ceremonies, traditions, celebrations, and even in daily uses. On October 2, 2009, UNESCO officially recognized the batik (written batik (batik tulis) and stamped batik (batik cap) as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity from Indonesia and encouraged the Indonesian people and the Indonesian government to safeguard, transmit, promote, and develop the craftsmanship of batik. Since then, Indonesia celebrates "the National Batik Day" (in Indonesian: Hari Batik Nasional) annually on October 2. Nowadays, Indonesians would wear batik in honor of this ancient tradition.

To support this heritage of Indonesia humanity and it is aligned with one of the company cultures, empowerment, the program was dedicated to all the Batik Craftmanship in which mostly are the women all over Indonesia.

Overall impact

By providing solution for the Batik Craftswomen, LinkAja can contribute to support SDG’s. At least there are 4 SDG’s can be addressed by LinkAja, SDG#5 Gender Equality, SDG#8 Good Job & Economic Growth, SDG#9 Innovation & Infrastructure, and SDG#17 Partnership for the Goals. SDG#1 Gender Equality can be easily achieved because the program is built & dedicated to Batik Craftmanship which mostly are women, in this case LinkAja is focus on training to upscale their knowledge, skill, and promoting their business. SDG#8 Good Job & Economic Growth can be achieved because thru continuously attending the series of program the craftswomen will fully the whole step process of setup a SME’s business and how to promote it in digital marketing amid to the impact of Covid-19 pandemic.

Business benefit

LinkAja is an e-wallet company which now has established & operated all over Indonesia with many use cases has been developed. The business model is to provide payment point to the customer while the consumer will enjoy the easiness of cashless transaction. There are around 3K +++ of the Batik Craftmanship currently being managed by Yayasan Batik Indonesia (YBI). Those big amount of SME’s are very potential customer of LinkAja or primarily knows as Merchant. Monthly gross transaction value is estimated above IDR 30 billion per month, and yet the Revenue for LinkAja is calculated nearly IDR 1.5 billion.

Social and environmental benefit

Digital marketing is the new way of doing selling & distribution of any scale of SME/MSME. With this program, LinkAja is trying to help the Batik Craftswomen by promoting their business and advertise it in the E-commerce marketplace for free of charge in which they could not afford it before. The program also will be tied in with Tourism campaign in several specific area of destination. Cashless transaction is also something that the company is continuously focusing on, every transaction will be done through electronic system of mobile application and it initiate to remove cash transaction to support stop transmitting of Covid-19 virus. And lastly is e-receipt, no more manual print of receipt of paper.
