Summary

Terra Be Pro is a waste management organization that focuses on educating businesses and the general public about the necessity of properly processing garbage in order to transform it into a product or a business. As a result, this company contributes to the development of human resources, the improvement of waste processing, and the creation of several new enterprises for the community.

Innovation

A lack of access to waste services, lack of public awareness of healthy living habits, lack of local government commitment to waste management, and weak sanitation management institutions (regulators and operators) are obstacles that the Indonesian government still faces. The Indonesian government still needs to learn from other nations that have successfully implemented eco-friendly garbage management. There are five perspectives of successful waste management aspects: institutional, financial, regulatory, community engagement, and operational technical. Solid waste management integrated and ecologically friendly requires full commitment from all relevant parties.

Garbage is defined as the solid residues of human everyday activities and/or natural processes, according to Indonesian state legislation on waste management. While trash management is systematic, comprehensive, and long-term, it encompasses waste reduction and management. This trash management encompasses not only technical elements, but also management, funding, regulation, and community participation as waste producers, private parties, and others.

Only technical considerations are considered, but non-technical aspects are also considered. It is required to involve several disciplines, such as engineering, civil, urban planning, economy, health society, sociology, communication, conservation, and so on, in order to operate a successful management system.

Terra Be Pro creates a waste management system that is connected with current trash banks to handle the waste of a company, business entity, and the surrounding community by focusing on the five major services: time management, data management, cooperation, organized procedures, and transparency.

Waste Management Transformation into Businesses

Inspiration

Mr. Banyu Sasongko earned a master's degree in environmental management in Japan. His lecturer instructed him to explore the differences between organic plant processing in Indonesia and Japan when he was studying environmental management in Japan. Due to the geological and cultural differences between Indonesia and Japan, he discovered quite diverse processing procedures. Both processes have their own advantages and disadvantages. Starting with organic farming and relating his study topic to garbage sorting, he discovered that the better a country's waste sorting system is, the more organic goods it may generate.

Mr. Banyu Sasongko created a waste management company after finishing his studies and returning to Indonesia. Starting by joining a foundation to establish a business, but owing to the differences in ideals of a firm and a foundation (profit vs. non-profit), he chose to go alone with his friends to construct a company that focuses on economic and social development.

Overall impact

Terra Be Pro will be able to produce various organic items for distribution in Indonesia as waste management awareness grows. Organic knowledge and awareness, as well as its influence on health, must be widely promoted throughout Indonesia. As a result, Mr. Banyu Sasongko devised a business concept that requires collaboration, in which the waste management business cannot be carried out by one company alone, but must be carried out collaboratively in order to raise public awareness of the importance of processing waste and organic products on a large scale.

Business benefit

Terra Be Pro is a one-and-a-half-year-old band. Despite its youth, this startup has drawn a lot of interest from large corporations. Terra Be Pro is now accessible in three major Indonesian cities: Jakarta, Bandung, and Medan. Terra Be Pro has continued to enhance the value of its firm in the eyes of the globe over the last two years, with roughly 100 trash banks and 50 MSME (Micro, Small, Medium Entrepreneurs) waste management partners.

Terra Be Pro separates garbage into different groups using the following process:

1. Organic Waste: Organic waste is composted to make fertilizer or used as feed for Black Soldier Fly (BSF), which then hatches into maggots that may be utilized as freshwater fishing industry feed.

2. Plastic and Paper: The collected plastic will be separated and recycled into a variety of products, while paper will be turned into handicraft items.

3. Glass and cans: Glass and cans can be provided to local SMEs for use in handicraft goods or processed for use in factories that require more glass materials.

4. Residue: residue waste is a type of mixed garbage that cannot be treated and must be burned in an incinerator. The hydrothermal and intermediate material processing will subsequently be used to create a recycled product.

Terra Be Pro can create the raw materials needed for enterprises, SMEs, and even huge companies by offering waste management services. Various types of goods, ranging from fertilizers to worms to other waste processing products, may be used to start a variety of new enterprises that are not only profitable but also socially and environmentally beneficial.

Social and environmental benefit

Whether it is trash, energy, green living, or women's empowerment, terra be pro believes that by sharing the correct information, this organization will be able to apply and execute the SDGs' principles and have a significant influence on society and the environment.

Because of its island nature, Indonesia has a particularly tough time separating garbage. The manner of life, culture, attitude, and layout of the pathologyin Indonesia make it critical to establish a waste bank, but good administration is also required. Terra Be Pro is a waste management company that also serves as a consultant for regions that already have waste banks and want to enhance their processing operations in order to turn them into successful enterprises.
