CINIA is a company located in Puebla city which produces five kinds of services: cleaning, gardening, textile production, cuisine and craftwork. CINIA has 350 employees and around the 80 percent of them have a mental or motor disability and that is why this company is focused in joining these people into society through job opportunities.

As for the sustainable development goals stated by the United Nations, CINIA has an impact on three of them: social inequality reduction, decent job and gender equality. So we have the following interesting question: how they do it? Well, based on the interview, CINIA´s positive role is to give people courage beyond their disability. They are committed to finding people´s skills and once they have identified them now it is time to develop and strengthen them in order to create a decent job environment. It doesn’t matter if you are man or woman, it doesn't matter if you have some disability or if you don’t, in CINIA there is always a chance for you to show what you are made of.

Inspiration

Adriana feels really committed with CINIA because of the employees. Everyday is a brand new day to learn about all of them. It is a really nice and interesting enviroment which invites you to know about each one’s life story so that you can truly admire and respect each employee, and on the other way around, each employee knows beforehand that he or she can lean on the company. Adriana strongly believes that her personal motivation in life is actually the people and not the salary at all.

She also stated: “CINIA definitely changes lives. When someone joins CINIA, he or she has the chance to momentarily leave the house and make a living working like any other person. They also have the chance to get along with other people and even learn a trade. It is interesting that many people here in CINIA have never been out of their houses before and that is exactly what the company makes a difference. CINIA changes person´s lives with or without disability.”

Overall impact

We all know that people with some kind of disability are discriminated against not only in Mexico but also in many other countries. CINIA is one of the many companies around the world that set an example of inclusion, respect, spirit of achievement and fight against discrimination.

This story about business innovation showed us that CINIA is a pioneer company in Mexico and Latin America as well since it provides opportunities for disabled people. Their business core goes beyond getting profit. They innovate the way companies should perform their operations within a world full of paradigms and prejudices and CINIA represents a real example to break them down.

Business benefit

CINIA hires disabled people with no problem at all. Of course CINIA gets profit from the products and services the company offers to the market. Those products are mostly manufactured by such kind of people. This company shows that work can be done with no difference betwen disabled people and not-disabled people.

All employees are taken into account for many important things among taking some decisions, improvement plans, creating new ideas and new processes, work enviroment, communication and gross profit distribution.

Talking about CINIA’s main goals Adriana stated: “We want to be an exemplary company in the world. We want to keep giving quality goods and services to our customers while at the same time we create opportunities for those who have special needs in life. We are actually a very big family since we find very important to instill human values like honesty, respect, responsability, inclusion, discipline and civic transparency. We strongly believe that those human values are going to be reflected in families and society.”
