BUMI is considering several aspects, from reducing packaging aiming to reduce the Earth's waste, sell nature friendly (vegan-products) that is much kinder and biodegradable to earth and supporting local farmers.

The concept of the business is encouraging customer to do a responsible shopping and minimize the waste by bringing their own container, responsible to take as much or as little as they want, and provide a recycle jar or packaging to be adopted by other customer who doesn't bring their own container when do shopping.

Inspiration

The inspiration come six years ago when Dominique Ivonne found a bulk store in London that sell a nature product with affordable price. As she also care and aware with the environmental issue, also due a personal reason, she find out that to get the nature product is very expensive in Bali. So she was inspired how can she act in order to help the people who also want to get the nature product but with affordable price. She act by approaching local farmers to get a good quality natural product, and buy it on bulk amount then sell it in retails.

Overall impact

By buying in one time large quantity and sell it in retail, Bumi can manage the waste from the packaging. In addition they keep the packaging and re-use it to package their future product selling. Customers have been in awe on how shopping from bulk stores is MUCH MORE affordable, waste free and the absolute feeling of positivity of doing something kind to our Earth. Also it connecting the local farmers with the customer through BUMI.

Business benefit

As people are slowly becoming more aware of the negative impact that our Earth is currently facing, customer believe that shopping at bulk stores will be a much better option of our Earth hence will be a great environment friendly business in general.

Social and environmental benefit

From the profit of BUMI and donation for recycled product (key chain from rejected material) from the customer, they spare the profit and support to those in need, from supporting Children’s education in Flores, planting mangroves in Desa Bedono and giving free food during this pandemic times.
