The innovation is based on the creation of a self-generating cold equipment, which allows solutions for the transport and distribution of refrigerated or frozen cargo without the need to be connected to a fixed source of Electric Power and totally portable.
This technology is designed to guarantee a cold chain, providing a solution to companies and organizations in their distribution channels, certifying the best temperature conditions, both in the health and food sectors, facilitating the distribution of food and vaccines in areas of difficult access, vulnerable areas and areas where there is no fixed electricity connection.
In addition to the previous benefits of portability and guarantee of the cold chain, it presents a third benefit and that is the reduction of CO2. Within the logistics processes of a company, one of its links is usually the distribution of its products, and depending on the characteristics of the product, it has to be refrigerated or frozen, and for this, integrated refrigeration vehicles are required for the conservation of the product. For this, INDAFRE presents its portable cold storage equipment, with the capacity to refrigerate or freeze the products to be distributed, maintaining its cold chain, but with the added bonus of not being directly connected to a fixed power source.

But how does this reduction occur? A comparison is made of two vehicles that travel 60 km per day, and transport dry cargo and refrigerated cargo, the dry cargo vehicle travels 20 km per gallon, while the refrigerated cargo vehicle travels 15 km per gallon. gallon, it is known that for this type of trucks the CO2 emissions are 10,017 kg per gallon, the calculation for a year of travel of the two trucks is 21900 km, the dry cargo will consume 1095 gallons of fuel, while the refrigerated cargo will consume 1460 gallons of fuel, this means that the dry cargo has a CO2 emission of 10968 kg per year, while the refrigerated cargo has an emission of 13463 kg per year, the difference is 2.4 tons less than CO2 with the dry cargo vehicle, in this way INDAFRE demonstrates with real figures the contribution to the environment.

La innovación está fundamentada en la creación de un equipo auto generador de frio, que permite dar soluciones para el transporte y distribución de carga refrigerada o congelada sin la necesidad de estar conectada a una fuente fija de Energía Eléctrica y totalmente portátil.
Esta tecnología es diseñada para garantizar una cadena de frio, brindando una solución a las empresas y organizaciones en sus canales de distribución, certificando las mejores condiciones de temperatura, tanto en el sector de salud como en el de alimentos, facilitando la distribución de alimentos y vacunas en zonas de difícil acceso, zonas vulnerables y zonas en donde no se cuenta con una conexión de energía eléctrica fija.
Además de los anteriores beneficios de portabilidad y garantía de la cadena de frio, presenta un tercer beneficio y es la disminución de CO2. Dentro de los procesos logístico de una empresa por lo general uno de sus eslabones es la distribución de sus productos, y según las características del producto este tiene que ser refrigerado o congelado y para esto se requiere de vehículos de refrigeración integrada para la conservación del producto, para esto INDAFRE presenta sus equipos conservadores de frio portables, con la capacidad de refrigerar o congelar los productos a distribuir, manteniendo su cadena de frio, pero con el plus de no estar conectado directamente a una fuente de energía fija.

¿Pero cómo se da esta reducción?, se realiza la comparación de dos vehículos que recorren 60 km diarios, y transportan carga seca y carga refrigerada, el de carga seca recorre 20 km por galón, mientras que el de carga refrigerada recorre 15 km por galón, se conoce que para este tipo de camiones las emisiones de CO2 son de 10,017 kg por galón, el cálculo para un año de recorrido de los dos camiones es de 21900 km, el de carga seca consumirá de combustible 1095 galones, mientras el de carga refrigerada consumirá de combustible 1460 galones, esto quiere decir que el de carga seca tiene una emisión de CO2 de 10968 kg al año, mientras que el de carga refrigerada tiene una emisión de 13463 kg al año, la diferencia está en 2.4 toneladas menos de CO2 con el vehículo de carga seca, de esta manera es que INDAFRE demuestra con cifras reales la contribución con el medio ambiente.

Recently, we were chosen by the World Bank to start commercial activities this year in Africa, specifically with companies in the pharmaceutical and food sector of that continent, under the framework of the Sustainable Cooling program, ”he commented.
One of the main characteristics of this equipment is that it has a refrigeration system, together with a deep-cycle lithium ferro-phosphate battery, with impact resistance, it avoids cross-contamination, it has a visual temperature control, its designs are 100% adapted to the needs of customers in terms of size, interior design, exterior design, the battery has a durability of up to 13 days, and its main characteristic is to provide product conservation with the cold cycle, without being connected to a source fixed energy.
The main advantage we have is that the portable refrigerator has facilitated the distribution of food and vaccines in optimal conditions, providing the entire vulnerable population with a solution of equal resources, reaching all areas of the country, supporting the initiatives of the National Government, Account with a product line called electro van, which is used to transport refrigerated or frozen food, being modular to be installed in any cargo vehicle, breaking the traditional logistics chain, and avoiding companies the use of vehicles with integrated refrigeration that consume too much fuel, in the event of turning off the vehicle for some reason, the cold cycle is interrupted and this innovation offers a comprehensive solution to companies, ensuring the cold chain for their products, a 25% decrease in consumption of fuel and providing the planet with a 30% reduction in CO2 emissions per vehicle mobilized.

Este emprendimiento colombiano inventó la primera tecnología de enfriamiento móvil que en el mundo permite conservar la cadena de frío de las vacunas y alimentos durante su transporte sin la necesidad de contar con una conexión eléctrica fija, se trata de una nevera portable que puede transportarlos y garantizar rangos de temperatura extremadamente bajos durante su proceso de distribución en última milla, mejor conocido como el eslabón más frágil de la cadena de frío y que es crucial, no solo para biológicos, sino también para el transporte de alimentos, medicamentos y cualquier carga que necesite mantenerse a temperaturas estables.
Su tecnología es única en el mundo, así lo confirma Sanclemente. “Se han realizado varias vigilancias tecnológicas y no se ha encontrado en el estado del arte algo parecido, por lo menos en América, Europa y Asia. Recientemente, fuimos escogidos por el Banco Mundial para iniciar actividades comerciales este año en África, concretamente con empresas del sector farmacéutico y de alimentos de dicho continente, el marco del programa de Enfriamiento sostenible”, comentó.
Una de las características principales de este equipo es que posee un sistema de refrigeración, unido a una batería de litio de ciclo profundo y ferro fosfato, con una resistencia al impacto, evita la contaminación cruzada, tiene un control visual de temperatura, sus diseños están adaptados 100% a las necesidades de los clientes en tamaño, diseño interior, diseño exterior, la batería tiene una durabilidad de hasta 13 días, y su característica primordial es brindar la conservación del producto con el ciclo de frio, sin estar conectada a una fuente de energía fija.
Como ventaja principal tenemos que la nevera portable, ha facilitado la distribución de alimentos y vacunas en óptimas condiciones, brindando a toda la población vulnerable una solución de igualdad de recursos, llegando a todas las zonas del país, apoyando las iniciativas del Gobierno Nacional, Cuenta con una línea de producto llamado electro furgón, que sirve para el transporte de alimentos refrigerados o congelados, siendo modular para ser instalado en cualquier vehículo de carga, rompiendo la cadena de logística tradicional, y evitando a las empresas la utilización de vehículos con refrigeración integrada que consumen demasiado combustible, en el caso de apagar el vehículo por alguna situación, el ciclo de frio es interrumpido y esta innovación le ofrece una solución integral a las empresas, asegurando la cadena de frio a sus productos, la disminución del 25% del consumo de combustible y brindándole a el planeta una reducción del 30% en las emisiones de CO2 por vehículo movilizado.
David Sanclemente, a 38-year-old Industrial Designer and Natural Business Leader, came up with the idea of designing a portable refrigerator in 2014 when he worked as an intern in a well-known company, he saw a publication from the Antioquía government where they challenged the creation of a portable refrigerator, he took advantage of the knowledge of all the engineers that surrounded him at that time where he was able to materialize his idea and present it to the government, there he won the first place where he received a contribution of $ 35,000,000 with which he bought a Twingo " mentions smiling” and with the other half he materialized the prototype of the portable refrigerator, David commented.
He started a research and development process in the company and then contacted several foundations (OMS, UNICEF) seeking resources and business opportunities, which he has been finding little by little. Today David recognizes that his greatest inspiration was always wanting to progress and stand out from his colleagues at the university and his work. He added Sanclemente.

David Sanclemente, Diseñador Industrial de 38 años y líder Natural del Negocio, se le ocurrió la idea de diseñar una nevera portátil desde el 2014 cuando trabajó como practicante en una reconocida empresa, vio una publicación de la gobernación de Antioquía donde retaban a la creación de una nevera portátil, aprovechó el conocimiento de todos los ingenieros que lo rodeaban en ese momento donde pudo materializar su idea y presentarla ante la gobernación, allí ganó el primer lugar donde recibió un aporte de $ 35.000.000 con los cuales se compró un Twingo “menciona sonriente” y con la otra mitad materializó el prototipo de la nevera portátil, Comentó David.
Inició un proceso de investigación y desarrollo en la compañía y luego se puso en contacto con varias fundaciones (OMS, UNICEF, etc) buscando recursos y oportunidades comerciales las cuales ha venido encontrando poco a poco. Hoy en día David reconoce que su mayor inspiración fue siempre querer progresar y sobresalir ante sus colegas de la universidad y trabajo. Agregó Sanclemente.

Thanks to the support of the IFC (International Finance Corporations), which is a member of the World Bank, it invited INDAFRE to participate in the sustainable cooling initiative, this helped that today they are exporting to countries such as Nigeria, Bangladesh and India, in Nigeria, it mainly supports seeking to go further, bringing food to people who live in areas of difficult access with the company's solutions. Likewise, it currently has a business unit called biological material. "Through the Colombian Ministry of Health, we support with our solutions to transport vaccines against COVID 19 in the country." INDAFRE's innovation points to energy efficiency and less contamination, by generating its own cold without the need for a fixed electrical connection, independently and autonomously, reducing the negative environmental impact per capita by reducing fuel consumption by up to 25% in comparison to vehicles using standard or common cooling systems. “One of the benefits is that we prevent our clients from cross-contamination issues according to regulations.” (Samclemente).
On the other hand, it contributes to improving education, raising awareness regarding climate change, training its clients on the importance of the cold chain and the benefit of its solution to mitigate the effects of climate change.

INDAFRE actualmente aporta de diferentes maneras al cumplimiento de varios Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (ODS).
Gracias al apoyo del IFC (International Finance Corporativos), el cual es miembro del Banco Mundial, invitó a INDAFRE a participar en la iniciativa de enfriamiento sostenible, esto ayudó a que hoy en día se encuentren exportando a países como Nigeria, Bangladesh e India, en Nigeria principalmente se apoya a buscar llegar más lejos, llevando alimento a personas que viven en zonas de difícil acceso con las soluciones de la empresa. Así mismo, cuenta hoy en día con una unidad de negocio llamada material biológico. “Por medio del Ministerio de Salud de Colombia, apoyamos con nuestras soluciones a transportar las vacunas contra COVID 19 en el país.”(Saclemente).
La innovación de INDAFRE le apunta a una eficiencia energética y menos contaminante, al generar su propio frío sin necesidad de conexión eléctrica fija, de manera independiente y autónoma reduciendo el impacto ambiental negativo per cápita al reducir el consumo de combustible de hasta un 25% en comparación a los vehículos que usan sistemas refrigeración estándar o comunes. “Uno de los beneficios es que le evitamos normativamente a nuestros clientes temas de contaminación cruzada.” (Samclemente).
Por otro lado, aporta en mejorar la educación, la sensibilización en lo que respecta al cambio climático, capacitando a sus clientes sobre la importancia de la cadena de frío y el beneficio de su solución a mitigar los efectos del cambio climático.

INDAFRE's industrial refrigerators are totally portable that do not need fixed power and guarantee cold hours or days from zero to -20°, they are reusable and have a useful life of up to 10 years, created with thermo-insulating materials; permanent blocking hermeticity systems against thermal shocks; and easily amortizable in short periods of time. In a company with 250 routes, each one travels approximately 60 km daily. A dry cargo vehicle travels 25 km per gallon while with this same amount of fuel a cold cargo vehicle travels only 15 km. One gallon is equal to 3.78 liters of fuel and each liter is equal to 2.65 kg of Co2. The difference between these two vehicle models is 5km, which is equal to 25% or equal to 1 gallon of gasoline.
In a day of work, there are only 60 km or 4 gallons of fuel, which is then equivalent to 13.92 liters of gasoline, which multiplied by 2.65 kg of CO2 gives the result of 36.8 kg per day. Doing a much deeper exercise where all this is multiplied by the 365 days of the year, we can deduce that it would be 21,900 km traveled equal to 5,080 liters of fuel, which in the end is 13,463 kg of CO2, while with a dry cargo vehicle it is 10,968 kg, Yes, it is an important figure, but now having these numbers, it can be concluded that using dry cargo vehicles with INDAFRE cold storage equipment can help reduce 2.4 tons of CO2 per year for a single company.

Haciendo un ejercicio mucho más profundo en donde se multiplique todo esto por los 365 días del año podemos deducir que serían 21.900 km recorridos igual a 5080 litros de combustible que al final son 13.463 kg de CO2 mientras que con un vehículo carga seca son 10.968 kg, si es una cifra importante pero ahora teniendo estos números se puede concluir que emplear vehículos carga seca con los equipos conservadores de frío de INDAFRE pueden ayudar a disminuir por año 2.4 toneladas de co2 para una sola empresa.
