De acuerdo con la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), en el panorama mundial las intoxicaciones por sustancias químicas son causa de morbilidad y discapacidad importante. La exposición a sustancias químicas causa más del 25% de las intoxicaciones y el 5% de los casos de enfermedades como cáncer, desórdenes neuropsiquiátricos y enfermedades vasculares a nivel mundial.

Las intoxicaciones por productos químicos industriales y agroquímicos equivalen a una carga global de enfermedad de por lo menos 1.2 millones de muertes, que corresponde hasta el 2% del total de muertes y 1,7% de la carga global de enfermedad.

En un reporte la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) la industria de la moda es considerada como una de las industrias más dañinas y contaminantes para el medio ambiente, la producción textil es responsable del 20% de las aguas residuales globales y del 10% de las emisiones globales de carbono.

La industria textilera es la segunda más contaminante del planeta. Gran parte del impacto ambiental de esta industria sucede durante la elaboración y teñido de las telas.

MARCHETTI Sustainable Fashion es una empresa mexicana, dirigida por Milena Marchetti, surge como una empresa que más allá de fabricar prendas de moda, está fabricando conciencia, al utilizar únicamente telas de bajo impacto, al ser estas de algodón orgánico poseen la certificación por el Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), ya que la tela usa hasta 91% menos agua, produce hasta 94% menos emisiones de carbono, está totalmente libre de químicos peligrosos y relaciones de explotación, el arte textil que elaboran en las telas es totalmente a mano y tardan hasta 5 horas en pintarlas, cada prenda es única y adaptable, ya que a las camisas se le puede desprender las mangas, también las prendas son sin género y atemporales.

Esta empresa nace, por la preocupación de la fundadora Milena Marchetti, al darse cuenta todo el impacto ambiental que conlleva la industria de la moda y que muchas veces los consumidores no lo saben, conforme fue investigando acerca de la industria textilera, peor se sentía, ella sabía que tenía que poner su granito de arena, así que decidió crear una empresa que no solo ofreciera moda convencional, sino moda sustentable y de alguna manera crear conciencia en las personas.

Nos comentó Milena Marchetti “hacemos tanto énfasis o nos fijamos tanto en los textiles además del lado social, porque el material que se utiliza para elaborar una prenda determina la mayoría del impacto que va a tener esa prenda en el planeta, pero también la vida de las personas que confeccionen la prenda, que corten la tela y nosotros que utilizamos la prenda, también tiene consecuencias, por esta razón para el equipo Marchetti no se puede hablar de moda sostenible o de moda ética sin tomar en cuenta realmente de que están hechas las telas, que químicos se utilizan y las condiciones de trabajo para las personas que elaboran las telas”.

Si bien es cierto, las personas que se dedican a la industria de la moda saben que es muy contaminante, pero muy pocos de los consumidores lo saben, como nos expresó Milena Marchetti “como yo siempre lo digo, yo soy una ex adicta al Fast Fashion y yo hasta creía que esa industria empoderaba a la mujer porque teníamos acceso a estas prendas constantemente y realmente ahora más que nunca nos estamos enterando que no es así, y más allá de solo consumir prendas, es ser conscientes y comprar conscientemente y saber que hay mil maneras de hacerlo”.

En palabras de Milena Marchetti “Para nosotros las certificación GOTS, pues para algunos dirían que es una innovación importante, yo diría que lo es todo, porque desde el uso de químicos de agua, las condiciones sociales para los que elaboran las telas, pues es una certificación que para mi opinión lo cuida todo”.

El equipo de Marchetti Sustainable Fashion están seguros que sus prendas sustentables, ayudan a mejorar en muchos aspectos el cuidado del planeta, reduciendo el consumo de agua para la elaboración de las telas, produciendo menos emisiones de carbono.

Marchetti Sustainable Fashion fue fundada en 2018, por Milena Marchetti Kozlov, es diseñadora de moda sostenible y cuenta con otras dos carreras profesionales, Licenciatura en Publicidad y Comunicación estratégica, por el ITESO en Guadalajara, Jalisco y Comercialización de moda y textiles, por la Academy of Art Univerity esta última la curso en San Francisco, California.

“Siempre quise trabajar en la moda y emprender, pero también aún antes de saber tanto el impacto negativo que tiene esta industria sobre el planeta, sabía que quería ayudar, que no solo se tratara de vanidad, de ropa y de cómo nos vestimos, y en el momento que me entero o aprendo acerca del impacto muy real y que está pasando ahora en la industria de la moda, que no es poca cosa, pues eso para mí fue como el empuje final, aunque yo en ese momento no tenía la información, las herramientas, ni el conocimiento, ni la experiencia”. Señalo Marchetti.

Marchetti Sustainable Fashion está conformado por un equipo de mujeres trabajadoras, las cuales son modistas, artistas de textiles, para la fabricación de las prendas sustentables.

Según datos de la UNCTAD indican que el rubro del vestido utiliza cada año 93.000 millones de metros cúbicos de agua, un volumen suficiente para satisfacer las necesidades de cinco millones de personas, y que también cada año se tiran al mar medio millón de toneladas de microfibra, lo que equivale a 3 millones de barriles de petróleo.

Además, la industria de la moda produce más emisiones de carbono que todos los vuelos y envíos marítimos internacionales juntos, con las consecuencias que ello tiene en el cambio climático y el calentamiento global.

Preocupada por esta situación es como Milena Marchetti decide hacer moda sostenible y reducir todo el impacto ambiental que conlleva el hacer ropa.

Marchetti Sustainable Fashion was founded in 2018, by Milena Marchetti Kozlov, she is a sustainable fashion designer and has two other professional careers, a Bachelor of Advertising and Strategic Communication, by ITESO in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and Fashion and Textile Marketing, by the Academy of Art University the latter the course in San Francisco, California.

“I always wanted to work in fashion and entrepreneurship, but also even before I knew so much about the negative impact that this industry has on the planet, I knew that I wanted to help, that it was not only about vanity, clothes and how we dress, and at the moment that I find out or learn about the very real impact and what is happening now in the fashion industry, which is no small thing, because that for me was like the final push, although I did not have the information at that time, the tools, neither the knowledge nor the experience,” Marchetti pointed out.

Marchetti Sustainable Fashion is made up of a team of working women, who are dressmakers, and textile artists for the manufacture of sustainable garments.

According to UNCTAD data, they indicate that the clothing industry uses 93,000 million cubic meters of water every year, a sufficient volume to satisfy the needs of five million people, and that half a million tons of microfiber are also thrown into the sea every year, which is equivalent to 3 million barrels of oil.

Furthermore, the fashion industry produces more carbon emissions than all international maritime flights and shipments combined, with consequences for climate change and global warming.

Concerned about this situation, Milena Marchetti decided to make sustainable fashion and reduce the environmental impact that making clothes entail.

En Marchetti Sustainable Fashion se sienten orgullosas de ser una empresa mexicana y crear todas sus prendas en Guadalajara, al trabajar con telas de esta certificación, se tienen que importan, por todas las reglas de la certificación y como tal aquí en México no existe un proveedor para la empresa, no les encantaba la idea.

Al comienzo en la empresa eran solo dos personas, con el paso de los años, han ido creciendo, la manera en la que trabajan no es tan convencional, ya que las modistas que elaboran las prendas trabajan desde la comodidad de sus casas, ya que la mayoría de ellas son madres solteras y de esta manera pueden cuidar de sus hijos a la vez que trabajan.

La fundadora de Marchetti Sustainable Fashion nos compartió un nuevo logro como empresa “tenemos un proveedor mexicano, estamos por lanzar una nueva línea de productos, la innovación es la tela reciclada hecha con desechos de pet, como sabemos México es de los primeros consumidores de pet, y lo interesante en esto es que estamos reciclando los desechos”.

The founder of Marchetti Sustainable Fashion shared with us a new achievement as a company “we have a Mexican supplier, we are about to launch a new line of products, the innovation is the recycled fabric made with pet waste, as we know Mexico is one of the first pet consumers, and the interesting thing about this is that we are recycling waste."
