Metalsa is a worldwide manufacturing company (B2B) that has created recently a Global Sustainability Program (GSP) which is an internal business sustainable methodology to promote that all levels of collaborators, operations and all disciplines within the organization should generate and implement innovative and sustainable ideas.

Due to the existing competitiveness in the market, Metalsa had the need to create an Innovative Business Model called "Foro de ideas". This program consists in creating new ideas that can be proposed and implemented by all levels of the organization. All these ideas are transformed in sustainable solutions inside the automotive industry that will have a social, environmental and economic impact into the cost structure.
In this program, all ideas are documented and evaluated by a steering committee for further implementation. Some examples from this initiative are:
Customers' requirement to Metalsa is to be a sustainable partner, which also has been the motivation for the introduction and success of this program.
The general director started this innovation methodology within the company, which is part of the success of this sustainable model as it started from the top management down to the rest of the organization. This has helped also in the management and efficient use of resources to execute all the initiatives, where the top management serves as sponsors and stakeholders.
Another source of inspiration was the final assembly of automotive companies (customers), where they require year over year cost reduction of the sourced parts and also an obligation of environmental and social commitment.
Metalsa employees have created over 200 innovative ideas, and for the ones already implemented, the company has obtained the benefit of creating a sustainable thinking culture within the organization.
As well as the increasing competitiveness within the market by reducing operational costs in accordance with the customers needs and also increasing the brand preference.
It also created a healthier working environment by generating a positive impact in the communities where the company carries out operations.
Metalsa was able to create a circular economy by one of these initiatives, where the antique model of recycling the carton boards was to confine and dispose the carton and package, but nowadays the carton scrap is being sold to another company that is able to re-work and source carton boxes with almost 90% of the carton waste.
