Summary

Conforming to its family-centered culture, Proview Global (PvG) ensures that it meets the needs of its stakeholders through its customized services. It caters to various companies in the U.S in different business units by providing administrative support. As a global company, its office in the Philippines focuses on manpower. Filipinos serve their clients by producing relevant data for the status of their benefits.

Filipinos are productively working in a collaborative set-up; thus, the culture of PvG has worked well. In line with the company’s culture of being family-centered or inclusive, PvG focused on addressing SDG #10, inequalities. It started opening the doors to employment for people with disabilities. It is currently working on creating an established program to broaden its recruitment process in ensuring that it will address the needs of applicants.

Innovation

The management of PvG, specifically Mr. Michael Rivera, the president of the company, and a Filipino citizen who succeeded in the U.S and brought the business to the Philippines, is one of the founders in building the family-centered culture within the company. He directly supports this innovation with the recruitment process considering people with disabilities. Given Mr. Rivera's guidance, the talent and acquisition team unified the consideration of processing the application and employment of people with disabilities to its employment assessment until the actual job implementation.

In my conversation with one of the talent and acquisition specialists, Ms. Janella Villamin, she shared that "the company formerly processed an applicant who is hearing impaired; it has been a challenging experience for us. However, a memorable one as the team has been innovative in ensuring that the applicant underwent a fair application process". This has been their first ever successful employment of a person with a disability. Ms. Janella is very candid in sharing that "even now, we does not have an established program and standardized practices with this innovation; nonetheless, the opportunities for the disabled are always open".

The company is targeting to integrate it entirely with the recruitment process as soon as possible, and it is completely ready to cater to every applicant's needs. According to Ms. Elizabeth Olayao, "the Human Resource team foresees it should at least be a company practice in the next 3 to 5 years, specifically in Manila, since the company operates globally".

Generally, PvG integrates an innovative solution in fighting against employment inequalities by opening the doors and just opportunities to all types of applicants, primarily those disabled people who, in most situations, have been eliminated or discriminated against by society, in line with the company's family-centered culture having fair employment opportunities are the least that the company believed they could do for the society to battle the discrimination and inequalities.

Magic Beyond DisABILITIES

Proview Global (PvG) still in progress in making their own trademark in terms encouraging people disabilities to work for the company. However, during the interview when I presented those 2 images Ms. Olayao is so amazed and described that it is the same concept that the company wants to achieve.

Inspiration

The interview I had with my former colleague Ms. Elizabeth Olayao who is associated with PvG, was a wonderful discussion. I have learned about the culture they embrace and how the management puts efforts to empower and make the employees feel that they walk the talk and that all the promises the company is giving to their applicants are the practices when they become employees.

Ms. Elizabeth shared with me that during her interview with Mr. Michael Rivera, the current president, he said he had not been born wealthy. He needs to work harder as compared to the people in his generation. Even without enough resources, he tried his luck and flew to the U.S to look for a job. He started working as a maintenance in a hotel cleaning the rooms and toilets to sustain his everyday living. To make the story short, his life was not easy, but with all his perseverance, he is now the company's president.

In one of their conversations, Mr. Rivera said that "no matter how hard life will be, no matter how many challenges you encounter, and no matter how many people will reject you, as long as you have your family on your side, you will never go wrong and things will work well."

Thus, given all those experiences, Mr. Rivera has always been kind and considerate towards the people around him, which motivates him to give opportunities to all people regardless of their status and advocate equality.

Overall impact

The innovation that the company wants to integrate is not yet completely done and has not been a usual practice. However, they already have initiatives and success stories of processing and employing persons with disability. The short-term effect of this innovation for the company is that it will have a broad scope of possible available talents that will give value to the company. Since the company is not closing its doors to disabled people, they have greater resources to utilize in achieving its goals. It is evident because the company can have a huge number of applicants wherein even those identified as disabled have the full potential that the company needs.

As shared by Ms. Villamin, having an established program to formalize the recruitment process of hiring people with disabilities is one of the company's projects. Given that they had already started it and had first-hand experience, they wanted to utilize that and make strategies to align with the company's long-term goal. This innovation will benefit PvG as it can maintain its family-centered culture and achieve the corporate objectives of delivering good services to the clients since the company openly accepts the population or the talents they have. Thus, given that the people in PvG are happy and talented, it will contribute to the company's bringing the best outputs, which likewise directly impact its profitability positively.

Business benefit

PvG's innovation in integrating its process with the recruitment of people with disabilities will support them in having available talents that will bring the optimal quality of outputs that will satisfy clients' needs. With this, they can acquire more potential investors or clients to be part of the company.

In addition, employees will be more engaged in working for the company as they feel safe and are motivated by the idea that they are free of judgments and they are one big family with a strong support system; this will also be strategic retention for the company as people are less likely to file for resignation as they know that they are valued and heard.

Finally, there will be a variety of human talents and potentials available for the company, making it easier for them to implement process development that will benefit the company in increasing its effectiveness and efficiency.

Social and environmental benefit

Even though this innovation is currently in progress, it is still beneficial for society as the awareness of the community that there are companies like PvG investing their resources to fight against discrimination and even open more significant opportunities for disabled people to work with the company and showcase the talents and knowledge that they have that there is always something beyond everyone's uniqueness which we commonly called disability.

To conclude, PvGs innovation envisions fighting against discrimination and advocates societal equality. Ultimately, it will benefit them in achieving its corporate goals and establishing a strong competitive advantage. Simultaneously, it will support society by delivering the message that there is always something waiting for you regardless of your imperfections.
