Summary

Zen Ranch is a purpose driven service business aimed at helping both humans and animals. Its owner, Eileen Tighe, coaches clients on how to make their life meaningful. For animals, she uses special therapeutic massage techniques to help equine and canine animals that are hurt or in need.

Innovation

As stated, Zen Ranch is a service business and wellness center that practices traditional life coaching as well as equine assisted coaching. Zen Ranch keeps individuals in touch with nature by using horses to practice therapy. At Zen Ranch, Eileen Tighe coaches professionals on how to identify and focus on the quality of life’s issues for a greater work and life balance. For equine clients, Eileen's services include therapeutic sports massage and energy wellness. Zen Ranch brings together people who are in needed of inspiration and coaching towards a better life. There comes a time where people may need help with transitioning in life towards a healthier lifestyle. This is one of the United Nations goals of sustainable development, good health and well being. Some individuals may not be aware of their lifestyle and the harm they are bringing on themselves. Things like stress at work, not being happy at where you are in life currently, or overall mental health are some of the aspects that involves coaching. Eileen coaches her clients and helps them develop ways of getting to a happy place in life. In regard to Eileen’s canine and equine clients, she does therapeutic sports massage and energy wellness. One question asked in the interview is the connection her business has with the aspect of sustainability. The question was “Is your business involved in sustainability/humanitarian projects?" (i.e.. Group work, therapeutic activities, coaching, wellness, nature.) She answered, "Yes, I work with horses and people to make their lives more calm and comfortable. While I do some group sessions, I mostly work one-on-one." Not only is sustainability, wellness, and mental health important for people but also for animals because we all inhabit planet Earth and are of the system of life. Zen Ranch's mission is to help people and animals with their overall state of well being. People are critical thinkers and many aspects of a daily routine can hinder a person’s mental state because of stress that these activities may cause. Coaching is certainly a meaningful tool to use when things like this happen. Having someone to get involved and guide you and teach you ways of bringing down stress levels can help create a more productive and daily routine. For animals, therapy is needed. For example, for horses their strength is very important. One of Eileen’s goals when dealing with animals like horses is to earn their trust in order to help them become strong. As she stated her inspiration for Zen Ranch began when she volunteered with horses for the handicapped.

Inspiration

One of my interview questions to Eileen was, "What inspired you to start this type of business?" In which she answered, “I was first inspired when volunteering for Horses for the Handicapped of South Florida taking care of the horses there. Then further upon hearing of Equine Assisted Training and the work of Wyatt Webb. These things combined with my background in Corporate Training and Employee Communication was a good fit and very motivating.” Eileen’s inspiration for starting Zen Ranch relates to her purpose of helping others, as she stated she volunteered with horses that were handicapped and this, coupled with her experience in training employees for a corporation inspired her to start this service business.

Overall impact

The impact that Zen Ranch makes in its local community is immense. People today are not aware of the impact that stress and less optimal behaviors have on their health and well being. Being able to learn more about yourself and have someone that is knowledgeable in ways to overcome stress is extremely helpful. Some of the long-term effects for clients include identifying issues, overcoming these issues, healthy transitions in life, and overall well being and mental health. For animal clients, the impact of being serviced at Zen Ranch is important as well because, for instance, horses are said to be very therapeutic animals that can sense fear and know when something is not right. Being able to gain horses trust in order to help the animal is not easy training. Horses are animals that depend heavily on their strength; Eileen’s business focuses on getting horses back to a strong state through massage techniques and riding.

Business benefit

There are many benefits that Zen Ranch brings to its local community and the nation because it involves the state of well being. I am sure that with the growth in clients the spread of Zen Ranch’s mission can bring a positive impact to not only those who were serviced but those who now know about the business.
