Sunfit "The Smart Food" is a company dedicated to delivering healthy food to home or office. The service consists in delivering daily the 5 necessary meals the customers require (breakfast, lunch, dinner and 2 intermediate snacks), so they do not have to worry about buying or preparing their food, facing the fact that the time is limited, and there are other personal and professional activities more valued for the people, scheduled in the agenda. In addition, the current food delivery options (that are regularly located close to work centers) does not always offer the healthiest food according to the nutrients a person should consume.

The Sunfit’s food is delivered in plastic containers and lunch boxes that are exchanged daily at the beginning of the day, which avoids the use of disposable items such as unicel (which is generally used by its competitors). The ingredients the company uses are organic and ecological, free of pesticides and fertilizers and grown by local producers from the CEO’s and Founder’s hometown, Teziutlán, Puebla. The dishes are not cooked fried, not prepared in a microwave oven and cooks don’t use fat and sugars not essential for the body.

The company designs nutritional plans for customers, based on the goal of each person; while there are those who want to lose weight, there are those who want to gain muscle mass, or simply improve their overall health by feeding properly. Nutritional consultations are carried out in a constant way to evaluate each patient’s goals progress, and to determine possible adjustments their menu may require.

Inspiration

Sunfit was created by Dr. Alba Solbei Lopez Rodriguez who is a surgeon by profession with specialty in nutrition. She performed this social service in a marginalized community where she realized that there are many diseases that can be prevented with a good diet, so as a doctor, instead of treating diseases, she decides to do something that can prevent them.

A friend asks her to cook for him and take his lunch to work, knowing his taste for cooking and healthy food. The positive results were immediate, her friend begins to lose weight and feel in better shape, which causes him to recommend her with more friends and acquaintances. The requirements of more and more clients encouraged her to formalize the business that, like everything else, faced various obstacles.

Overall impact

The company focuses on people’s health. In the words of doctor López Rodríguez, “it is inspiring to see how patients are evolving, improving their health, with more energy and eliminating diseases just by changing their eating style”. Even when her patients continue requesting the service once they have reached their initial goal, because they feel good, they are not boring with the menu; they avoid wasting time looking for what to eat and, most importantly, healthy eating has become a lifestyle for them.

Business benefit

Sunfit was born 4 years ago in Mexico City. Thanks to its good performance and excellent service, since a year ago they also offer their services in Puebla city. Currently have 13 employees for both cities .

Social and environmental benefit

The company supports sustainable work by acquiring its ingredients from local producers in Teziutlán, Puebla according to the harvest seasons of the food. It generates a great environmental impact by not generating waste with disposable containers. Additionally, company supports people from Teziutlán, by providing them the opportunity to have decent work on their head office in Mexico City.
