MARSH has always been more than just a business venture; it is an expression of the founder’s values. Jola adds in our interview: “The three of us came from different business and education backgrounds, but we have the same passion in golf and in sustainable clothing—amongst other things!”

In addition to their commitment to sustainable product development, MARSH actively strives to promote and educate consumers, particularly younger generations, about the significance of sustainability and eco-friendly attire. Recognizing the power of social media and their influence as public figures, MARSH employs these platforms to share and reinforce values of sustainability. The BALI store has experienced thriving success, prompting MARSH to recently open a store in Jakarta. Additionally, MARSH successfully expanded its reach through online sales.

Jola emphasizes, “We truly believe that sustainability in fashion is the future. We can already see major players acknowledging this global movement. Why should Indonesia's fashion world remain stagnant?” MARSH is positioning itself as a frontrunner in sustainable fashion, aligning with the growing global awareness of environmental responsibility in the industry.

Social and environmental benefit

One notable MARSH initiative called PABLE utilizes used textiles and promotes micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) by empowering the local community in Karang Rejo, East Java, to weave these fabrics. This supports local businesses and fosters sustainable practices in the fashion industry.

MARSH incorporates bamboo cotton in one of its articles, a choice with significantly lower water consumption compared to traditional cotton. While conventional cotton requires 2000 liters of water, bamboo cotton uses only a fraction of that amount, about 10 times less and does not involve the use of pesticides. This reflects MARSH's commitment to reducing its environmental footprint.

“From the beginning, MARSH has always aimed to give back to the community and the environment,” shares Jola. Despite being a young company, MARSH is dedicated to contributing to charities and other initiatives, which underscores their commitment to social responsibility and sustainability.
