Summary

The business model that Frutta Bowls is structured around is making a company and an environment that is healthy and makes many efforts to be environmentally friendly. The company's optimism allows for a unique way to improve the well-being of individuals and eliminate waste by using environmentally friendly products.

Innovation

The innovative business model was purely created by the Chief Executive Officer, Brooke Gagliano. Her, along with family and friends, created a company that is healthy and makes many efforts to be environmentally friendly. The innovative business the company created was to formulate something that would be healthy for individuals, with ingredients that are pure and do not contain any additives.

Frutta Bowls initially started with Brooke, the CEO, and her family, so the initial investors were her family itself, and the company boomed from there. The two UN Sustainable Development Goals that this was most linked to are: Goal 3- Good Health and Well-Being and Goal 12- Responsible Production and Consumption. This is due to the fact that Frutta Bowls tries to emphasize the importance of healthy eating by advertising the fact that they have no added sugars, no preservatives, and everything is made from just fruit every morning. Specifically, what the business is doing for the UN Sustainable Development Goals is to make foods without additional sugar, chemicals, and added ingredients. In addition, the company makes a conscious effort to recycle and be environmentally friendly.

Since the company started off as a small business, the CEO had the help of family to get the money to start the company and shape it towards how she wanted it. As time went on, the business was a success, so any money made went back into funding resources and the business model and providing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Frutta Bowls Business Model

Inspiration

This specific franchise was built in February, 2018. The owner of the store wanted to start this franchise because of the upward trend of popularity of acai bowls and smoothie bowls in the current market. The owner of the store saw "success and a financial stability" with this company. The CEO, Brooke Gagliano, wanted to promote healthy eating because she was very into wanting to start this company. For that specific reason, the owner was also into fitness, so it motivated him to want to start and continue on to inspire others to live a healthy lifestyle. In addition, since the CEO of Frutta Bowls is very young, it sparks of the interest of many individuals to want to be part of a business model that is new and creative.

Overall impact

The short term impacts for Frutta Bowl's business innovation are both positive and negative. At first, a high quality and all natural focus may lead to increased costs for the business as the quality and expensive all natural produce would be priced a lot higher than some low quality goods. While in the short term, this innovative method may seem hefty, it will highly benefit Frutta Bowls in the long term as such initiatives highly benefit many customers. Frutta Bowls will be catering to a large range of customers by providing high quality and all natural products. This will allow Frutta to develop a loyal customer base which would help sustain profits. Customers definitely appreciate a company which is transparent and provides good quality products, so they would remain loyal to Frutta Bowls as a result of Frutta’s dedication to being healthy and sustainable.

In the short term, Frutta may not make a huge imprint on the nearby society; however after some time has passed, Frutta will (and has already), become a well-known spot in town. Becoming a place where many people enjoy visiting, Frutta will gain more popularity and after some time other companies may be inspired to follow Frutta’s innovative ideas to match its success. The long term impact on society as a whole is that Frutta can help mold the way people think about their food and may influence a societal focus on healthy and sustainable eating.

Frutta Bowls will also have an impact on the environment as their all natural products will help benefit farmers. Usually food products are farmed by major producers with the use of GMOs, and pesticides, taking away profits from other farmers. By supporting all natural and clean produce, farmers are able to profit, helping the agricultural environment. Lastly, Frutta Bowls’ innovative business model will also impact its employees as creating a healthy and positive work environment would help motivate the workers.

Business benefit

Frutta bowls was one of many companies that started making healthy versions of acai and many other different fruit bowls, except this company has a unique twist to it. The innovation of these bowls was done by some of the franchises in the West Coast. The concept of these bowls was then considered by Brooke, founder of Frutta bowls. She originally got inspired from these stores in Los Angeles and other major cities, and how healthy the bowls affected people. But Brooke also found her own recipes and made her products taste a lot better. She also made her product a lot more health efficient than other competing acai bowl stores, which provided her with more opportunities to stand out with this business.

Frutta Bowls caught the eyes of many people because it was growing in the East Coast and also a lot of people were considering to try what they offered. This unique concept allowed for the company to attract customers that actually willing to be a part of the culture and contribute to making this franchise well known. As the business was flourishing, it started with one location now has 22 locations, and is planning to open 11 more stores in 9 different states. Each location approximately hires 6 to 8 people to work at a time or shift, which helps with employment situations for a large amount of students and part time workers. Overall, the company began as a small business, and started to enter new markets with their clothing apparel, accessories, and snacks. This allows for them to become a very competitive company and will lead them to continuing success in the future.

Social and environmental benefit

Frutta bowls is a very environment friendly franchise. One of their key motives is to use all degradable services in their store. The spoons, bowls, and straws, are all considered to be very easily biodegradable. Even the store interiors are made up of thrown aways metal pipe pieces as decorative items. The adaptation of such process is also a great advantage for the nature as the products used in their store are harmless and natural.

Frutta bowls also pays special attention to their customers health and makes sure that all the products used in their store and healthy, clean and organic. One of the main reasons why Brooke started Frutta bowls was to actually eliminate the juice and sugar bases which were added in foods from other businesses similar to this. Brooke purposefully and completely concentrated on this part and developed her own recipe in order to make these bowls as healthy and tasty and possible. All these factors majorly affect the environment in a positive and advantageous way.
