Women’s Leadership programs help to create pathways for mentorship, to find voices among others in business settings, and to build confidence in women so that they can rely on and trust their skills for success.

Toastmasters Training is open to all Broadridge associates. It aims to improve their public speaking so that they are able to convey their thoughts in a coherent and concise manner.

Through various partnerships with local Universities for future education, associates are able to receive a tuition discount, deferred tuition, and provide tuition reimbursement. This promotes equal opportunity so that people from all socioeconomic backgrounds are able to see higher education and to not be constrained by the cost of attending a higher institution.

Improving Gender Equality and Reducing Inequalities Through Business Innovations & Programs

Inspiration

Society has made great strides in promoting gender equality since the Women's Rights Movement in the 1960s and 70s. Also, through easier access to education, countries throughout the world are trying to decrease income inequality. Although we have made improvements in both areas, there is still more work to do. Broadridge realizes the importance of having a diverse and vibrant business environment, where there is a diversity of ideas.

Overall impact

Although it is difficult to quantify the impact of these programs on the associates at Broadridge, we do see a significant change in the dynamics there. As Ms. Krystle Scala mentioned in our interview, senior leaders are making strides in promoting gender equality and inspiring associates to better themselves by obtaining a higher education. Krystle is a keen example of the success and projection of these programs, as she has availed herself to each one and has steadily risen in the organization for over 15 years. Furthermore, Broadridge has recently created a new role of Chief Diversity Officer, chaired by a woman.

Business benefit

The Women’s Leadership programs have motivated women to be more confident in the workforce. The programs teach women about Broadridge products and services, as well as the financial side of the company. The program also assists in resume writing, provides LinkedIn training, and holds motivational sections to inspire women. Overall, this helps put women into the proper leadership roles at Broadridge where they can excel, which in turn leads to Broadridge’s success.

The Toastmasters program helps train Broadridge associates on public speaking. This helps associates in many aspects of the business, whether it’s the sales team trying to convince a new client to sign with Broadridge, or selling a new product to an existing client, or even a client service representative presenting a quarterly business review to the client. Broadridge associates' strong presentation skills help to convey their message successfully to clients.

Additionally, Broadridge’s partnership with local universities to provide discounted or fully reimbursed tuition allows them to develop and mold future leaders in their organization.

Social and environmental benefit

The social and economic benefit of these initiatives is creating a stronger and more resilient workforce that adds to the economic value of the corporation. When people at a company have access to tools to strengthen their work skills, it is in the best interest of the company because it generates a strong workforce. Greater opportunities for people to attend higher education generate personal growth, which in turn leads to overall growth in the company and the economy. For too long too many people - disproportionately women and people of lesser means - have dealt with historical and economical obstacles blocking their path forward in work, life and education, but with these programs, new pathways are created to lead the people into the industry and to succeed with support and knowledge.
