Broadridge prides itself on sustainability and doing well by doing good. On the Broadridge website, you will see the following statement about sustainability: “Integrating ESG into a sustainable business strategy by lowering our ecological footprint, fostering a safe and diverse work environment and ensuring strong governance to achieve all of our ESG goals.”
St. John's University
Broadridge's Women’s Leadership programs help to create pathways for mentorship and give employees the opportunity to find their unique voice in a business setting. Through workshops and mentorship, women build confidence and trust in their skills, which helps to position them for success.
Toastmasters Training is open to all Broadridge associates. It helps improve their public speaking so that they are able to convey their thoughts in a coherent and concise manner.
Broadridge holds various partnerships with local universities for future education, including St. John’s University and Molloy College, where associates are able to receive a tuition discount, deferred tuition, and provide tuition reimbursement. This promotes equal opportunities for all so that people from every socioeconomic background are able to have the opportunity to gain higher education and not be bound by the constraints of the cost of attending a higher institution.
Society has made great strides in promoting gender equality since the Women's Rights Movement in the 1960s and 70s. Also, through easier access to education, countries throughout the world are trying to decrease income inequality. Although we have made improvements in both areas, there is still more work to do. Broadridge realizes the importance of having a business environment that is made up of a wide variety of individuals, creating a diversity of ideas.
Although it is very difficult to quantify the impact of these programs on the associates at Broadridge, we do see a significant change in the dynamics of the company. As Ms. Krystle Scala mentioned in our interview, senior leaders are making strides in promoting gender equality and inspiring associates to better themselves by obtaining a higher education. Krystle is a keen example of the success and projection of these programs, as she has availed herself to each one and has been able to rise up in the organization for over 15 years. Furthermore, Broadridge has recently created a new role of Chief Diversity Officer, which happens to be a woman.
Broadridge's Women’s Leadership programs have motivated women to be more confident in the workforce. The programs educate women on Broadridge products, services they offer, and help teach women the financials of the company. The program also assists in resume writing, provides LinkedIn training, and holds motivational sections to inspire women. Overall, this helps put women into the proper leadership roles at Broadridge where they can excel, which, in turn, has a positive effect on the company.
The Toastmasters program helps train Broadridge associates on public speaking. This helps associates in many aspects of the business, whether it’s the sales team trying to convince a new client to sign with Broadridge, selling a new product to an existing client, or even a client service representative presenting a quarterly business review to the client. Having strong presentation skills helps associates convey the message successfully to clients.
Broadridge’s partnership with local universities to provide discounted and/or fully reimbursed tuition allows them to develop and mold future leaders in their organization. The higher education and the extensive work experience help the associate grow, and associate growth is essential to the success of Broadridge.
The social and economic benefit to these initiatives is creating a stronger and more resilient workforce that adds to the economic value of a corporation. When people at a company have access to tools to strengthen their work skills, it is in the best interest of the company because it generates a strong workforce. It also capitalizes on making human beings better in their skills set. More opportunities for the higher education of the population allow for personal growth, which leads to overall growth in the economy and quality of life. Both, women and people from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, have had historical and economical obstacles in their way to success in work life and education, but these programs, create pathways to lead them into the industry and succeed with support and knowledge.
