Digital Technologies' work starts from the idea that technology is our main tool to build up our future, in this sense its core business consists in providing companies that work with them accurate and tailored services. The team’s focus is not just about a single area, indeed they want to expand their horizon as far as they can, not only for what concerns profit, but especially in terms of sustainability, in fact, they received Benefit Corporation Certification.
When Digital Technologies begins to collaborate with a new company, first they want to understand their goals, strategies, needs, area of concerns, and much more that can help them to create a unique service customized to what their clients need, guiding and instructing them in digitization world.
To do that Digital Technologies decided to resort to exponential technologies, which guarantee a faster growth rate than the usual ones, in terms of digitization. They make use of three different kinds of exponential technologies. The first one is the internet of things (IoT) which consists in making “things” communicate with each other through the internet, just like a QR code with a scanner. Another important tool is the blockchain, mainly used to digitalize coins and their exchanges, which could be as fast as a message. Blockchain could also be used also in the fashion world because with it we can identify a product that not only will become unique, but also could be classified as the original. In this sense, Blockchain could be used in the fight against counterfeit goods. Furthermore, we have virtual robots which communicate with each other thanks to the help of artificial intelligence.
At the beginning of his career the future manager Luca Baldini worked for many years in a multinational company based in Netherland, during this experience he learned a lot about teamwork, how to be ready to fail and move forward, but at the same time he realized that kind of reality was not made for him, in particular, because people were bound in their place, they couldn’t have initiative and couldn’t realize their owns ideas, they must follow determinate goals and instruction that their boss imposes them.
Thanks to his entrepreneurial spirit Luca decided to leave society and with some long-time friends with whom he shared the same ideals and principles, decided to open a start-up supported by his father.
At the base is possible to evince a strong entrepreneurial spirit, the desire to emerge and bring to the market a breath of fresh air.
Despite the high technological level now established and present on the market and the phenomenon of Covid19 that occurred a couple of years after the birth of the start-up they were able to exploit threats and opportunities, create a strong business and increase their turnover year after year
They believed in their qualities and capacities.
The main concept embraced by digital technologies is the "innovation hub": an American approach based on a cell organizational model. The objective is to create vertical business units specialized in specific solutions and competencies. The final result merges the horizontal vision of the client's firm with vertical technology expertise, building a tailor-made model in order to satisfy the specific client's needs.
In the first place, the short terms effects of the innovation benefit mostly the client, because the solutions created by Digital Technologies will improve the digital maturity of the client, advance the corporate system and meet the business goals. But secondly, this innovation will bring many effects also in the long term, concerning the environment, the development of communities, the partnership established, and the sustainability of cities and energy.
The company opened several offices all over the world (in Milano, Genova, Piacenza, Madrid, and Shenzhen) to be able to have direct control and contact with the stakeholders; in particular, in 2019 they opened a district in Trezzano Sul Naviglio that became a sustainable headquarter that led to an increase in job opportunities.
DT takes part in B Corporation projects.
The B corporation is an ever-changing process and consists of a network of businesses that stand out on the market from all others because, in addition to pursuing profit, they continuously innovate to maximize their positive impact on employees, the communities in which they operate, the environment and all stakeholders. In fact, the B Corp company voluntarily and formally chooses to simultaneously produce social and environmental benefits while achieving its economic results.
To become a B Corp company, you must manage a plurality of requirements, first, you have to hold several interviews, past them you obtain access to a particular portal where monthly you have to answer hundreds of different questions, divided into categories. If after measuring your business performance you have obtained a score of at least 80 of 200 points, you can sign the declaration of independence of the B Corporation.
The last and decisive step consists in the total transformation of the company, by changing the bylaws into a “charitable company”.
Today the community has over 120 certified b Corp companies in Italy and more than 4000 in the world; it’s a privilege and a commitment of few.
Another important aspect of the company is that the average age of employees is under 35 years old and 54% of them are women.
As far as the benefit of the society and the environment is concerned, it is important to mention the work done by the company on the Trezzano Sul Naviglio headquarter, in Milan, which is completely based on sustainability. Firstly, it was made a total redevelopment of the industrial district, where the company invited street artists called "Urban Giants" who have drawn different graffitis on the walls.
The office is as innovative as possible, and inside it, the company has realized various services in order to improve the quality of the time that the employees pass in that headquarter. For example, they have made available a gym, a canteen, an open space where the employees can stay during the break, a bar, game rooms, a theatre in order to promote events, relax and brainstorming rooms.
Furthermore, Digital Technologies succeeded in deleting permanently the paper from its business. In 2017 they started to transform paper processes into digital processes, this allowed the customers not to work with tides of paper, but totally from PC. Each A4 sheet of paper saved is 4 grams of CO2 saved, and in that way, the client economizes. Each year they avoid generating paper for their customers for about 600 million A4 sheets, so they have a great positive impact on the environment.
Digitalising processes, not making them on paper anymore, also reduce the production time and realization of a good/service. This is because when the information is electronic, it is much more immediate to face anomalies and therefore the average time of problem management is reduced. In their project of energy sustainability, they want to become neutral and this means they want to produce energy internally or only buy energy from renewable sources. They also want to have only electric company cars and from 2022 they will start to invest in solar panels. All these initiatives are to achieve an affordable and clean energy level.
Finally, the last point concerning the benefit of the society is Charities: Digital Technology makes donations to the cardiopathic child association of Piacenza every year, and during the Covid outbreak, they also made donations to the ASL of Piacenza.
