Summary

Cyanodoc aims to give patients control of their thyroid conditions through etiology-based care.

Currently they offer root cause diagnosis for Thyroid disorders. Currently, 200 million people are suffering from thyroid and in India specifically there are 40 million people suffering, the sad part is half of these people fail to get a diagnosis. By providing the root cause for the disorder, doctors will be well equipped to treat the conditions of the patient. So, Cynadoc is mostly a medical diagnosis driven type of company.

Through this effort, it solves the UN SDG 3 and 13 which is 'Good Health and Well-being' and 'Climate Action' respectively. It helps the climate because transport emissions are cut as patients do not have to go regularly on transport for their medical work thereby reducing emissions.

Innovation

Cyanodoc's focus is to get the medical diagnosis in the correct fashion. For most people, Hyperthyroidism is the only diagnosis for Thyroid. The company is trying to go specifically into the medical etiology of that disease. Let’s say, for example, some doctors say some patients have hypothyroidism, then what is the root cause of hypothyroidism? Why did the patient develop this problem? are the questions Cyanodoc is answering. If the doctor understands why the patient developed the problem, only then can the doctor give right treatment.

Upon onboarding, patients gain access to the app through which they are assigned a dedicated doctor and a care coordinator. They guide patients through a series of detailed etiological tests, meticulously designed to pinpoint the medical etiology of their condition. Armed with this detailed understanding, doctors devise personalized treatments, while the care coordinator ensures seamless communication and adherence to the medication given.

The remarkable aspect lies in the observed progress and improvements seen in patients' health, achieved by following the prescribed course. Cyanodoc's approach not only mitigates disease progression but also offers hope for minimizing or eliminating medicine dependency. This aligns with their vision to empower patients where they might no longer require lifelong medication. This means a significant victory in the battle against thyroid disorders. Through medical supervision and precise protocols, Cyanodoc's innovation contributes significantly to advancing SDG 3 by enhancing healthcare outcomes and promoting overall well-being.

Cyanodoc: A revolutionary step towards treating Thyroid disorders

Inspiration

The inspiration behind Cyanodoc stems from a combination of personal experiences and a deep commitment to addressing healthcare challenges. The company's co-founder, a medical professional specializing in thyroid issues, was motivated to start Cyanodoc after witnessing the struggles of his patients. He shared that "the first thing happened to be the company’s co-founder, who happens to be a doctor himself and is in a thyroid-specific role; he interacted profoundly and told me about the specific problems faced by his patients in terms of getting the right treatment."

The founder's journey was further influenced by encounters as a teacher, where he mentored students facing health challenges. Reflecting on these experiences, he expressed, "There are a few stories that affected my life, first from the point of a teacher, being a teacher. Many of my students come with different challenges; some are brilliant, and some seem to struggle." This personal connection with students who developed health issues, particularly related to thyroid problems, became a pivotal moment prompting the creation of Cyanodoc.

Additionally, the co-founder's concern about delays in diagnosis and misdiagnosis in healthcare fueled the initiative. "The second one is when sir had a conversation with the co-founder regarding the number of cases his patients had faced related to delay in Diagnosis and misdiagnosis," emphasized the co-founder. The desire to leverage his medical knowledge to bridge the gap between patients and the right doctors became a driving force, with the co-founder stating, "Sir wanted to use his learning and help bridge the gap between the right doctors and the patients."

In essence, the leader's inspiration for Cyanodoc arises from a profound understanding of healthcare challenges, a compassionate connection with patients and students, and a commitment to improving the diagnostic process.

Overall impact

The purpose behind the company was to help the public with their health issues and it does not stop at thyroid. Cyanodoc started off with thyroid diagnosis because as a company it cannot tackle of all the health problems together so it targeted one of the most common niche health problem. Going ahead, the next step for the company was to dive deep into the diagnosis in the area endocrinology and will be targeting all the diseases that come under endocrinology.

The long-term goal of Cyanodoc is to diagnose the entire human disease map. Cyanodoc believes they can bring about a significant advancement in the way human diagnosis is conducted in today’s time which is the need of the hour. There are companies all over the world who are working towards improvement in diagnosis.

One common example is founding CEO of Sun Microsystems, Vinod Khosla. He says that we need to acknowledge the issue that disease diagnosis needs advancement even till this day and that is also what Cyanodoc aims at achieving. The current competition that Cyanodoc has in today’s market is IBM’s Watson which didn’t sustain as they could not reach to a solution where proper diagnosis can be done. One way the problem can be tackled can be by focusing on the doctor and trying to establish a “clinical decision support system” which is a commonly used word which means the doctor takes help of this system to perform the diagnosis. Cyanodoc’s international competitor includes Japan’s UV health and its national competitors includes Veera health and Jeevam health. But Cyanodoc has a different niche and aims at starting a new segment in this field. This concludes Cyanodoc’s current scenario in terms of existing app and it’s long-term goal.

Business benefit

Firstly, talking about the world scenario there is an estimated 200 million people suffering from thyroid and in India specifically there are 40 million people suffering, the sad part is half of the people fail to get a diagnosis, so the present situation in diagnosis is really difficult to get. When the patient is treated based on the symptoms it is called symptomatic treatment which is fair for the doctor but the patients some time lack the patience to go through the whole process. This maturity in patients is lacking, this is predominant across the world. So, Cyanodoc has a worldwide reach. About the existing players in the market, they have a different approach and Cyanodoc has a different approach, Cyanodoc is mostly a medical diagnosis-driven type of company.

Social and environmental benefit

It’s a different kind of health care platform which aims to identify a niche for itself in terms of people’s life. When it comes to how people look at their life, there is a lot of things people believe that they are doing is in right manner and they believe they are living their life in a standard way which is oblivious to the fact that there could be a better way of living life

The main purpose behind Cyanodoc was to make people aware of the true potential to live a healthier life. As a company we have started with basic goals like trying to help user connect with Doctors subsequently trying to get some consultation going and then tackling the bigger problem that is diagnosis. The company’s purpose is to ensure that the customers get right kind of diagnosis and ensuring the people don’t suffer from misdiagnosis.

The company is pretty much aligned with the UN sustainability goals and from the perspective of health care then the person’s health is all about whether the person is living a good quality life. It’s not just about survival, it’s about how well the person is contributing to the society. In terms of thyroid there are certain symptoms that happen for a patient where the patient develops lethargy due to which they miss out certain aspect in their life. It affects the persons way of living, for example a student showing lesser intent towards studying might be actually diagnosed with thyroid. For a working professional there are various examples like patients underperform due to thyroid which affects our society. If a person has gone to various doctors and used different medication then the person has aggravated the total societal goods which are there, from the point of view of transport, the patient has to visit the doctor multiple times but in our case it’s an online system so you don’t have to visit the clinic again and again. In case of thyroid the patient Is advised to visit the doctor every 3 months. If the patient is not cured it will create problems for the individual which would affect the patient his family and the patient would not be able to live his life to full potential. We ensure the person independent way of living should be optimum and that is the key for us.

Majority Population unfortunately suffers from Thyroid. In India the Diagnosis ratio between men and women is 1:10. Therefore women are suffering more. The need to educate more women about the Thyroid disorders is crucial because firstly, they do not recognize the symptoms and secondly, there would be the societal shame with respect to acceptance of the disease. Therefore, irrespective of the situation, the symptoms must not be ignored in order to avoid progression of the disease and enable early treatment.
