Summary

H20 y Vida is a Colombian family company committed to the preservation of water, which has proposed a national plan to save drinking water that seeks Colombia to be recognized worldwide as a pioneer country in saving drinking water, for this they have developed a device water saver (conscience), which regulates the water pressure and leaves a necessary flow step in each use source guaranteeing 70% effective savings in each of the installation points.

Innovation

The co-founders design and patent a saver device whose operation is based on “the regulation of water pressure and flow rate”, this long-lasting device is designed in an aseptic, recyclable and non-toxic material, which does not contaminate the water. On the other hand, the installation of the device does NOT compromise the structure of the house due to its non-invasive installation process.

AWARENESS AND COMMITMENT TO THE CONSERVATION OF WATER RESOURCES

Inspiration

About 10 years ago the co-founders of H2O y Vida began to notice the excessive consumption of water in their home, this was mainly due to the fact that “it was not possible to control the flow of the water that came out of the faucets”, so they began to look for the way to have a control of said flow and designed a first device installed in their drinking water supply system, noting that their neighbors, even though many people were consuming and spending more than they did.

Overall impact

In Cape Town, South Africa in 2015 began a sequence that was made in a water tomb in the region. Beginning of 2018 the water levels of the reservoirs began to decline to critical levels, as well as the city announcement plans of the city would run out of water.

However, the problem is not exclusive to this area of the world, the phenomenon of the child of this year, led to large cities such as Sao Paulo in Brazil to implement widespread cuts in water consumption, in Melbourne Australia were implemented goals of saving in a preventive way, in order to avoid possible water rationing and in Colombia a series of energy saving campaigns were carried out due to the low level of the reservoirs. Studies have shown that the 500 largest cities in the world, 1 in 4 periodic situations of "water stress", citing the UN, this happens when supplies are detailed below 1700 cubic meters per person.

“Did you know that only 0.007% of the water on earth is potable? In Colombia we are water power, but only in Bogotá 102,950 liters of water are consumed every second the equivalent of 24 water tanks, with our product, conscience, we contribute to the preservation of the water sources of our country.”

Consider these, an average shower duration, 8 minutes consuming an average flow of 14 liters per minute, this means that the shower generates a consumption of 100 liters per day, adding the average water consumption per person when we use the taps we increase the consumption 25 liters per day, without counting the use of other elements and appliances.

The human being requires only 2 to 3 liters of water per day to survive, however, studies show that the average consumption in Colombia per person is 200 liters per day, the average number of inhabitants per household in Bogota is 3.5 people per household, this implies that the water consumption of a household can be 24 cubic meters per month, 288 cubic meters per year.

With the proposed system this consumption could significantly reduce, we could go from consuming 24 cubic meters per home to something more than 7, the saving of resources and money is evident because this poses a practical and economic solution to a critical problem.

Business benefit

“The responsibility belongs to everyone, as a company we dream that more people and entities join us with this national plan to save drinking water, we seek to generate social awareness, be supported by companies and investors who wish to support the development of the project in order to produce and distribute the largest number of water saving devices and provide them to social sectors that do not have the facility to access this type of innovation in a simple way.”

Social and environmental benefit

“We all know that water is a source of life, that is why we want all users of drinking water to implement our product, that is how families begin to see savings in both cubic meters consumed and in the payment of their bills, if we add the Potential benefits represented by the implementation of a very low cost product (less than USD 6 per unit) in sectors such as hospitals, industries, construction companies, among others, would see an optimization in the development of their processes aligned with the conservation of natural resources. our country, which later would be worth recognitions for being responsible and contributing to sustainability.”

"We are a company that is committed to the preservation of natural resources and the pocket of Colombians. For this reason we design and patent a saving device that we call "conscience"; which regulates the water pressure and leaves its necessary step in each source of use. It is designed for 3 main points, sinks, dishwashers and showers It is important to keep in mind that the investment made by the user is recoverable in the second billing cycle. Saving a high percentage of money and cubic meters of water per year. We have a laboratory study that certifies 70% of effective savings at each point."
