Cinépolis has adopted visual health as a social commitment and guiding principle, because it is a cause that is directly related to its raison d'être as a company, the cinema. For 14 years, Fundación Cinépolis has contributed to improving the visual health of low-income people suffering from cataract blindness, while generating a culture of blindness prevention.
This cause was chosen not only to improve people's quality of life, but also because of the impact it has on their self-esteem, sense of belonging and contribution. By changing the lives of these people, the lives of their families and communities are also transformed. Cataract is the second leading cause of blindness in Mexico and 90% of the population does not have access to surgery due to lack of money.
"We want to be a popcorn, that is to say, we want to empower our employees to give the best of themselves. We want employees to give their best, this through discipline, but in a fun and simple way, to provide excellent service and continue to positively impact the lives of thousands of people." (Santillan, 2021)
As of 2019, more than 50,000 people have recovered their sight throughout Mexico, surpassing the goal set for 2020.
As of today, they have 26 partner institutions that perform surgeries in 32 Mexican states.
Every year, patients save 17% of waiting time to access this type of surgeries.
By 2030, Del Amor Nace La Vista aims to restore sight to 150 thousand people living in poverty.
This innovation has allowed Cinepolis today to achieve more than 26 strategic alliances with other companies, which drive it to be a socially responsible company. On the other hand, its employees feel proud to belong to a company that seeks the welfare of other individuals and that together achieve the objectives established by the company.
The innovation positively impacts the lives of thousands of people who unfortunately live day to day with a visual impairment which prevents them from enjoying their lives. This innovation also impacts the families of those supported since they can now live together in a better way and spend quality time with their families.
