Medini is a comprehensive store with a large variety of eco-friendly products, including single-use bagasse food containers, organic body care essentials, jewelry, handmade wooden crafts, and more.
This store also aims to make customers eco-conscious by substituting disposable plastics with steel straws and bamboo toothbrushes. To achieve the UN SDG of good health and well being, the store promotes and sells reusable sanitary pads as well. Medini is also well-known for cotton and jute customized bags available in different shapes and sizes, which is a step towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goal of sustainable cities and communities.
Mrs. Divker deviated to a plastic-and-chemical-free lifestyle after learning about the alarming effects of them. However, she realized that it is difficult to source these in Goa. So, she committed herself to increase the outreach of eco-friendly products to eco-conscious consumers.
Many individuals who are passionately involved in an eco-friendly lifestyle motivated her to embark on this venture, such as architect and urban designer Saritha Sudhakaran, the curator of the wasteless group in Goa. She finds support in her friends, family, and, most importantly, the clients for continued motivation throughout.
Because her shop is situated in Goa, one of India's biggest tourist spots, she is doing her level best to promote the image of a sustainable and environmentally friendly India to the entire world.
Also, within India, promoting better materials will bolster the health of the country for future generations. This has been best put by Mrs. Divker herself when she said, "Well to me personally it has been a pleasure to meet like-minded people not only from Goa but different parts of India and out of India too."
The innovation is an eco-friendly product that works as a marketing strategy in itself since it catches the eyes of the growing number of environmentally-conscious consumers.
Also, it caters to a large variety of consumer demands at a reasonable price due to being a one-stop-shop. Plus, it attracts people with a certain high status with customizable options, which helps generate revenue overall.
The products available in this store are all eco-friendly. So, on a broader societal level, this business's mission is to majorly reduce the single-use of plastic and persuade people to develop an eco-friendly lifestyle.
The goal of this innovation aligns with the views of building a sustainable community and ensuring the health and well-being of people and future generations.
