The Tulip filter was created to tackle the clean water SDG 6 and ensure cleaner water for those who need it. It has also created job opportunities for those who have trouble obtaining a job.
The Tulip filter, created to represent the origin of the company in the Netherlands, is created from diatomaceous earth, activated carbon, and nano silver to ensure clean water. The materials used consider the fact that the water could be recontaminated again because of bacteria growing in the filter, but the nano silver lining of the filters prevents this from happening. The combination of ceramic, carbon, and silver prevents the water from being contaminated and ensures long use and clean water for extended periods. The filter prevents diseases such as diarrhea, giardia, cholera, and other waterborne diseases.
Mr. De Kater did not create the business but instead saved the business when it went bankrupt in 2019. He brought it up and built it to what it is today. Throughout the hardships of Covid-19, the company did excellently.
With the increase in production, people are far more susceptible to certain contaminants entering their water supply, therefore causing them to become sick. For many, they need not worry if water is being filtered to a point of being safe enough to drink, because many are in areas in which this is not a concern. The development of Tulip filters has spread the process of water treatment in many countries that need it, thus making the lives of millions of people better in the process. Water is a finite resource, which makes the development of these filters so much more impactful. The ability to create reusable filters that allow water to remain clean for extended periods impacts not only the people but how other organizations look to achieve SDG 6 of clean water.
The company was saved back in 2019 after facing bankruptcy, and it evolved into what it is today as a result of that hardship. BWN has recently made it a priority to communicate more efficiently with the buyers, rather than aimlessly sending out products. The company communicates afterward with frequent check-ins.
Besides the importance of clean water, BWN states the importance of creating job opportunities in various communities needing economic assistance. Providing clean water provides employment in these communities as well as the ability to profit from it. Moreover, the company does not utilize materials that emit high levels of carbon dioxide into our atmosphere, which in present times is very admirable considering our planet is facing extreme environmental threats. Many companies tend to take our resources for granted, however, company is avoiding carbon emissions with every filter in use, and the water does not need any cooking.
