Summary

The Telosity Company's innovative business service is to provide other businesses with tools and ideas to create a more humane company structure. They go beyond profit maximization; aiming to benefit all stakeholders, including employees, consumers and shareholders.

Innovation

The basic concept used in their business structure is the intertwined triangle of purpose, brand and culture. They use this triangle to analyze why a business does what they do, how they impact those externally and the internal workforce behind the company itself. Telosity's innovation is essentially helping their clients and other companies to run their businesses more efficiently and effectively. As Julian said, "We help clients take existing metrics and measurement tools and help them re-purpose those in order to pursue a different end."

Julian's statement also indicates that Telosity uses a different approach to its clients in a sense that they don't just take over the company and try to make them succeed but they teach them how to be successful, they make their clients their partners, they get them to ask different questions about their own business and how to use the tools that they have in order to achieve sustainability. What makes Telosity's idea an innovation in its real meaning is due to the fact that it's so creative and rare to find in today's competitive market where each business is just trying to survive while competing with a thousand similar other companies. Meanwhile, Telosity tries to connect with everyone, even competitors, no matter the industry and does its best to make everyone successful and ultimately create a market with sustainability and high value.

Moreover, Telosity's innovation is not trapped within a certain realm nor does it relate to a certain audience only; in contrast, any type of business with any kind of background can need a company like Telosity on any given day because of their unique innovation. Their business relates to several UN SDGs, like decent work and economic growth (#8), industry innovation and infrastructure (#9), and partners for the goals (#17).

Inspiration

Dan and Julian were inspired to launch Telosity as they saw the need to pioneer and innovate the idea of companies getting help to become and promote sustainability in their businesses. As such, they started their management consultancy firm to consult with businesses to become more sustainable in all levels of a business from the ground up. This worked seamlessly, with Julian having the creative understanding of sustainability ideas and Dan having a strong business background and the ability to come up with business structures, strategies and ideas for businesses to implement.

Dan and Julian also saw clearly that current businesses are focused on profit maximization, and not caring about all stakeholders, but simply the shareholders. This doesn’t really take into account the value of a human life, as corporations just become engines to create profit, without major concern for the environment and society. Imagining the great impact a business can have becoming sustainable, and thus adding value to society, as consumers from society would also be part of the valued stakeholders, also inspired Dan and Julian to pioneer a management consultancy company advocating, promoting, and helping businesses implement sustainability.

A quote from Julian, one of the founders of Telosity also clearly shows this being a core concern for their business, as seen below:

"… the need to do good... profit is based on society; it needs to be focused on Sustainability.”

It’s encouraging to see Julian and Dan having this mindset. We hope this mindset increases in society.

Overall impact

The overall impact of the business is mainly seen in businesses becoming more sustainable, where all stakeholders are taken into consideration while making profit. The consumers are also affected, as in the past they're accustomed to businesses not caring about them genuinely, in the sense they've seen businesses only care about making profit regardless of the method used. However, communities grow in trusting businesses as they now will see they genuinely care, as they are also seen as an important/genuinely valued stakeholder to the business.

Furthermore, over time as other businesses see the impact of sustainable businesses, and Telosity helping other businesses become sustainable, they are more likely to also start to moving towards becoming a sustainable business themselves. This change is already seen in B corporations that value and care about their social and environmental impact on the world. So they are also concerned about sustainability as a whole being a big part or accurately at the core of their business.

As Telosity helps businesses become more sustainable as a management consultancy business, they’re also pioneering in creating a new market for more people in society to be inspired to also become a management consultancy business. To be more specific, to become a management consultancy business that promotes sustainability, and helps organizations integrate sustainability into their organizations.

The biggest impact Telosity will have past, present, and future is promoting the mindset in businesses that sustainability is not just something their business does, but is something that represents what their business is.

Business benefit

Telosity as a company itself anticipates huge change with their innovative ideas and new business strategies. The modernized approaches used are set to change the mindset of high-level executives and future generations alike. As their innovation is central around the services and ideas they provide, revenue will continue to generate through networking with open-minded business executives. The team, currently comprised of Chris Houston, his son Julian and Dan Lovero, have mixed the perfect amount of experience, education and philosophy.

When asked about fellow competitors in the market, the team were aware of the possibility that there might be other companies with the same concept, but none specifically that were acknowledged. This leaves the team with the capacity to open up a new market for what they are offering - becoming sustainable while maintaining sufficient profit. This is a foreign idea for older generations of business owners, becoming an asset for those that want to become more sustainable but don’t know how to get there.

As Telosity is in the beginning stages as a start-up, the company hopes to see long-term, positive effects as a result of their services. An example of this would be switching to more sustainable suppliers, thus creating long-term effects for the environment. Innovation from this comes from the fact of companies still making a profit but making incremental changes that helps in the fight for sustainability.

Social and environmental benefit

This innovation benefits the society in three ways, to the business itself, the employees, and the consumers (all three being part of society in any context worldwide). The business is benefited as it joins the growing trend of businesses caring about all stakeholders and becoming sustainable. The employees, as they're also adding value to the society as they're part of a business that promotes sustainability, and are choosing to continue to work for that company (showing their values towards sustainability).

Lastly, we see consumers being affected, as they see a change in businesses genuinely caring for them, which grows trust among consumers for business, thus they are not only consuming goods from a business as they require them, but also to promote the same sustainable values as the business for their own lives also.

Together, this allows a society to grow in good values, and creates a world which promotes good work, which benefits society as a whole, or in summary society's motto becomes, as Telosity mentions "Our purpose is your good work."

It is seen, that this impact doesn’t just affect the present, but also has a great impact on future generations. As our society has a big impact from businesses, businesses produce advertisements that promote certain values and how we see things, more specifically the product that is trying to be sold. Telosity thus promotes businesses to become sustainable, creating a world that cares for one another rather than using it for one’s own needs.
