NEU was born in 2019, when Juan Esteban Hincapié was doing his master's degree in Energy Systems and with the help of Juan Camilo López, they began to think about a different way to offer solar energy without the need for solar panels. They wanted to offer a service that would contribute to the environment in a more economical and easier way.
Juan Esteban's thesis was about everything related to P2P technology and it was there that NEU began, providing solar energy without solar panels through this technology. And from the get-go, the idea of doing something digital and smart started.
They received high critics from potential investors, however, Juan Manuel Arboleda and Juan Esteban did not get discouraged. Together with Daniel López, they developed codes that were capable of accurately read people's energy consumption and in order to move forward, they had to become an energy distributor, which became a reality in June 2020 and now, the option of having solar energy without solar panels is just a business model. It is expected to have different products through energy and continue to grow and expand NEU around the world.

NEU nació en el año 2019, cuando Juan Esteban Hincapié estaba realizando su maestría en Sistemas Energéticos y con la ayuda de Juan Camilo López comenzaron a pensar una forma diferente de ofrecer energía solar sin necesidad de tener paneles solares. Querían ofrecer un servicio que contribuyera al medio ambiente de una forma más económica y fácil.
La tesis de Juan Esteban fue sobre todo lo relacionado con la tecnología P2P y fue ahí donde comenzó NEU. Desde el primer momento, comenzó la idea de hacer algo digital e inteligente.
Contra comentarios críticos de potenciales inversionistas que no llegaron a serlo en el primer momento, Juan Manuel Arboleda y Juan Esteban y no se detuvieron. Con Daniel López, desarrollaron unos códigos que fueran capaces de leer exactamente el consumo de energía de las personas y para poder avanzar, debían volverse un comercializador de energía, lo cual se hizo realidad en junio de 2020 y ahora, la opción de tener energía solar sin paneles solares es una realidad. Se espera tener productos diferentes a través de la energía y seguir creciendo y expandiendo NEU en todo el mundo.
In just 2 years, NEU has built its own tool using disruptive technology for the industry, such as blockchain and artificial intelligence, managing to provide sustainable and intelligent energy to more than 1,350 users in the country, reducing up to 20% of its energy bill, which contributes significantly to SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy.
NEU is endorsed so that its users receive green vouchers / carbon credits which demonstrate to the State that they are a company that sustainably supports the environment.
In the web and mobile application you can find the Saving The Planet metrics, which consist on showing the client the number of trees that were stopped from getting cut down, the Km / h that were not traveled in vehicles and the tons of C02 that were not emitted when consuming solar energy, contributing to SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure.
Finally, NEU provides an intelligent electrical energy service, where the user has a completely different experience of energy consumption while learning to be more efficient by reducing the value of their bill and better yet, without receiving a lower quality energy service, contributing to SDG 13: Climate Action.

En tan sólo 2 años, NEU ha construido una herramienta propia utilizando tecnología disruptiva para la industria, como blockchain e inteligencia artificial, logrando brindar energía sostenible e inteligente a más de 1350 usuarios en el país, reduciendo hasta un 20% de su factura de energía lo que contribuye de forma significativa al ODS 7.
NEU Está avalado para que sus usuarios reciban bonos verdes/bonos de carbono que demuestren al Estado que son una empresa que apoya de manera sostenible el medio ambiente.
En la aplicación web y móvil se encuentran las métricas Salvando El Planeta, las cuales consisten en mostrarle al cliente el número de árboles que se dejaron de talar, los Km/h que se dejaron de recorrer en vehículos y las toneladas de C02 que se dejaron de emitir al consumir energía solar, ayudando así al ODS 9.
Finalmente, NEU brinda un servicio inteligente de energía eléctrica, donde el usuario tiene una experiencia completamente diferente del consumo de energía mientras aprende a ser más eficiente reduciendo el valor de su factura y mejor aún, sin recibir un servicio de energía de menor calidad, aportando así al ODS13.

Hace menos de un mes, NEU Energy concretó US$3.5 millones para incentivar ahorro del consumo de energía y masificar energías limpias, Daniel López, cofundador y CTO de NEU, manifestó que este dinero será clave para “fortalecer nuestra capacidad tecnológica y así ofrecer nuevos productos y servicios, como NEU+ que permitirá conocer los consumos de cada uno de los equipos de nuestros clientes; y en sumar compras de energía limpia a nuestra cartera de generadores”.

NEU Energy is a startup that was born in 2019 and currently has 35 employees who want to revolutionize the way energy is consumed in the world. It is the first 100% intelligent and digital electric power marketer, likewise, through artificial intelligence it manages to show in its App the Client's energy consumption in real-time; it sends efficiency notifications that allow to know its consumption and the savings on the energy bill.
NEU offers the possibility to have solar energy without solar panels. They can do this because users that have solar panels installed, generate excess in energy that enter NEU's grid system and they distribute to households and companies that don't have access to panels.
