A partir de lo anterior en los 3 primeros meses sucedieron distintos inconvenientes por lo cual decidieron no continuar con el negocio. a causa del desistimiento de la iniciativa le surgió un problema: Tenían todos los envases de los aceites almacenados y no tenían ni idea que hacer con ellos; empezaron a investigar que se podía realizar con estos envases y se dieron cuenta que podían tener un mercado de reciclaje de plásticos, dado que este sector es muy amplio y en ese momento no se tenía ni siquiera información, ni conocimiento empírico a cerca del reciclaje de este tipo de materiales buscaron unos equipos para la molienda y el lavado del plástico (molino, lavadora y secadora) para poder quitarle el aceite a este material y así mismo lograr recupéralo. Gracias a lo anterior, resurge la nueva idea de negocio en febrero de 2019; aquí comenzaron a buscar personas que conocieran del tema de reciclaje y les lograran aportar a la idea de negocio.

From the above, in the first 3 months various inconveniences occurred, for which they decided not to continue with the business. Due to the withdrawal of the initiative, a problem arose: They had all the containers of the oils stored and they had no idea what to do with them. They began to investigate what could be done with these containers and they realized that they could have a plastic recycling market, given that this sector is very broad and at that time there was not even information or empirical knowledge about the recycling of plastics. This type of material sought equipment for grinding and washing the plastic (mill, washing machine and dryer) to be able to remove the oil from this material and also recover it. Thanks to the above, the new business idea reappeared in February 2019. They began looking for people who knew about recycling and managed to contribute to the business idea.

Inspiration

Santiago afirma que “Se molió, se recuperó el material y se contrató una persona para que reparara las máquinas y las operara, dicha persona les ayudó a conocer más sobre los tipos de reciclajes, empaques y el RAE (Recibos eléctricos y electrónicos) y nos fue transmitiendo su experiencia en el reciclaje”.

Teniendo en cuenta lo anterior, se constató que el tema de reciclaje no estaba tan formalizado y querían hacer algo diferente para que las personas que se incorporan a la empresa contaran con sus respectivos contratos laborales y prestaciones de ley, de esta manera impactando y generando un cambio en esta industria del reciclaje (En Colombia no es normal ver esto en una empresa de reciclaje). No se trabaja directamente con los recicladores de calle dado que hay unas empresas que proveen las materias primas, llamadas ECAS,. Otros de los proveedores de materias primas son las empresas que generen estos residuos de plástico ya sea postindustriales o posconsumo.

Hoy en día son transformadores de plástico certificados por la autoridad ambiental ANLA, toda la materia prima que procesa REACEIPLAS, tienen esta certificación.

Se tiene trazabilidad de la materia prima para entender el origen de estos plásticos y certificar que el producto resultante sea de excelente calidad.

Santiago affirms that "the material was ground, recovered and a person was hired to repair the machines and operate them. This person helped them learn more about the types of recycling, packaging and the RAE (Electrical and electronic receipts). He was transmitting his experience in recycling”.

They found that the recycling issue was not so formalized and they wanted to do something different so that the people who join the company would have their respective labor contracts and legal benefits, thus impacting and generating a change in this recycling industry (In Colombia it is not normal to see this in a recycling company). They do not work directly with street recyclers since there are companies that provide the raw materials, called ECAS. Other suppliers of raw materials are the companies that generate this plastic waste, either post-industrial or post-consumer.

Today they are plastic transformers certified by the ANLA environmental authority, all the raw materials processed by REACEIPLAS have this certification.

There is traceability of the raw material to understand the origin of these plastics and certify that the resulting product is of excellent quality.

Overall impact

Actualmente se encuentra bajo la reglamentación en Colombia con la visión 30/30 (Gestión de envases y empaques) donde se tiene una meta del 30% para el 2030 yc aporta a reducir este impacto del plástico apuntándole a dicha meta.

Su nuevo proyecto de innovación es convertir el polipropileno en hilo procedente de material recuperado con un componente biodegradable, y así disminuir también el impacto ambiental en la industria textil.

In Colombia with the 30/30 vision (Container and packaging management) there is a goal of 30% by 2030. The company contributes to reducing this impact of plastic by aiming at said goal.

Its new innovation project is to convert polypropylene into yarn from recovered material with a biodegradable component, and thus also reduce the environmental impact in the textile industry.

Social and environmental benefit

El padre de Santiago afirma que REACEIPLAS ayudó al cambio de mentalidad del reciclador, dado que ellos saben que hay un recurso aprovechable pero no tienen el conocimiento, ni la dimensión del proceso en sí, pues el plástico tiene unas familias que no se pueden mezclar debido que eso le da un valor agregado a varias empresas para que lo puedan utilizar.

Socialmente REACEIPLAS también impacta a los empleados apoyando sus estudios académicos y/o universitarios haciéndoles este acompañamiento dado que por ser personas de bajos recursos es muy difícil que accedan a los mismos.

Santiago's father affirms that REACEIPLAS has helped to change the recycler's mentality now that they know it is a usable resource, although they do not have the knowledge, nor the dimension of the process itself, since there are families of plastic that cannot be mixed. This gives added value to several companies so that they can use it.

Socially, REACEIPLAS also impacts employees by supporting their academic and/or university studies by providing them with this accompaniment, given that they come from low-income groups.
