GigIndia is a platform which helps empower the students to become financially independent. In accordance with various UN specified global goals for sustainable development, GigIndia is able to satisfy for the Good Jobs and Economic Growth section. In a country like India, which is currently seeing a decline in the job offers available, GigIndia is effectively doing its part to help various students find internships for themselves, and improve their livelihoods.

GigIndia being one of the startup which not only grew leaps and bounds but stood out as an example for many budding entrepreneurs for gaining some knowledge as a stepping stone for their future.

Inspiration

When Sahil (Founder and CEO) was in college, he felt that there was a need of something more, in terms of internship and job opportunities.

The concept of an internship was new but was flawed. Hence, there was an opportunity of business and a need for providing a way to students, by which they get a chance to work from their homes, not come to office but still be able to work and get paid accordingly. This was the concept which made GigIndia fulfill various needs for a company, a student, and even homemaker who can work from anywhere and get a financial backing by working on it.

GigIndia believes that Gig model for working on projects/internships/jobs would be the facilitator for not only providing opportunity to work but also earn to everyone who has some or the other skill/ knowledge. With the world getting digital, work culture needs to be digital too. Gig culture is the upcoming culture of jobs in the world, is the thought that lead to making of GigIndia.

Overall impact

In an era when it’s harder than ever to compete for the full time of top talent, flexible work provisions will enhance a company’s employer value proposition, vastly increase the candidate talent pool and is an effective way of retaining highly valued employees. GigIndia seems to focus more towards how it could facilitate the people and fulfill their needs. With the current scenario of unemployment amongst the youth where it is essential to make people financially stable, with the help of GigIndia they're making 15-20k per month gaining stability and having job security which is essential in terms of basic needs. According to its co-founder they still have few strategies which help them make their impact in the future. They are working relentlessly in improving customer experience, and use technology to make things easier and improving lives of people who are connected to GigIndia. As they said, "when you are obsessed with doing good quality work and improving people's lives you have already made a mark".
