Toffee Doodle implements an innovative business model that aims to make delicious puddings, as well as help, promote sustainability. It’s a hand-crafted product. It is all about the authenticity of different cuisines and authenticity of different trades of a region, they do not want their product to be processed or packaged by too many machines. Founder of Toffee Doodle says "Toffee Doodle is always with love, It’s always with a touch of a skillful hand."

Innovation

That's how Toffee Doodle generate basic employment, they make sure they don’t use too many machines and hire local community to generate employment, “We only use machines wherever required, we try to minimize the use of machines a lot.”

Also, the company is very particular about packaging, branding and brand outreach, so they overproduce and as said by Viraj Hede “A product not packed well, that product may be very good and fantastic for eating and consumption but if not packed well and layers are uneven, we don’t sell it to the market.” So, all this product which are very good for eating and not spoiled but not packed well we give all these cups to an orphanage and underprivileged, so they have a person to collect all these cups and deliver this kind of cups to people who are deprived of all these luxury products. And the proportion of overproduced cups every day is around 15-20 cups

Also, they only use electricity provided by government, "we are not using our own generator or something but we are concerned for the consumption of electrical consumption, while expansion we focus on low electricity consumption machine as much as possible, hand-in-hand they are trying to increase the hand efforts i.e. labor efforts rather than machines or electrical appliances."

Inspiration

Viraj Hede Says "No matter what people tell you, words and ideas can change the world" and so he started his own innovative firm. The company is just 18 months old with a vision- to bring a premium dessert with a dash of toffee and a whole lotta love!

But Toffee Doodle inspiration was not only to be a successful environmentally friendly business, but they wanted to make a difference in their community. The owners’ inspiration goes beyond a focus on the environment--they also want to make an impact to their community and make sure the most fragile members of their community, such as children and senior citizens, also enjoy the privileges .

The company believes that A COMPANY WITHOUT CULTURE CANNOT BE A SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS. And the culture which the company follows is they don’t waste any ingredient of the product that is used during the manufacturing.

Overall impact

Based on Goa, Toffee Doodle highly regards energy efficiency, employment, reducing plastic usage, and serving their community.

The innovative sustainable activities that the companies do generate employment with a focus on future waste management, also responsible use of packaging material, and donation of overproduced products to the unprivileged people.

Business benefit

Toffee Doodle is an 18 months old firm started in Goa catering around 120 retail stores right now. Total 150 accounts in Goa. It is just a start for us but we are working on a new unit where we will manufacture almost 30 times more than what we are producing right now.

Toffee Doodle has launched just two products right now but they have around 6 different products across the brand which will be launched soon.

The activities done by the company creates consumer loyalty for the product and thus generate good revenue.

Every batch the company produces it avoids wastage a lot, the company is completely obsessed about 100% utilization of the resources, every food ingredient that they use is a holy product for them. "We consider food as a holy product and we are trying not to waste any. Every product, every process, every batch, every cycle of a process we have a focus that we have to optimize as minimal waste as possible," said by Viraj Hede. Which in turn reduces the cost of production and thus help to generate a good profit.

Social and environmental benefit

Its all about priority and choice and Toffee Doodle care for the environment.

They ensure sustainable consumption production patterns with minimal use of non-renewable energy reducing their carbon footprint and being a good example of a sustainable profit-making business.

As the company is very new it has a lot of sustainable activities planned up to be implemented soon.

The company is looking forward to setting their own AFFLUENT TREATMENT PLANT i.e. ATP in industrial language. The quantity of affluent per day will go to the affluent treatment plant and it will get recycled, it will get refined, and then the affluent will be transferred back to the fresh water and the dispersed to the outside world. Also, the company is looking forward for packaging techniques sustainability. They are in work to incorporate biodegradable plastics for packaging of the product, in their R&D they are focusing on biodegradable plastic and in near future plan is to go GREEN completely (Plastic-free toffee doodle).
