Summary

El Savory Network

It is a global network that seeks to reverse
desertification and combat climate change.

It specializes in Holistic Management, a livestock production technique that allows to double the profitability of a farm and recover the ecosystem from the regeneration of pastures.

Integrated in a network and with a collaborative vocation, Ovis 21 has a team of professionals with a comprehensive vision that seeks to increase the economic, ecological, social and human sustainability of its clients.

Innovation

The Initial Study of Pastures is a valuable instrument to improve the adjustment between the supply and demand of forage, achieve the best possible nutrition of the flock and reduce the impact of the animals on the field.

The report contains

- Inventory of pastures, which includes the preparation of a map or "letter of use", using digital technology for mapping natural resources

- The diagnosis of the current management, where the supply and demand of forage is compared and problems related to the quantity, category and time of use of the animals assigned to each table are detected. This includes a diagnosis of the conservation status of the natural resources involved.

- Pastoral Plan. A grazing plan is proposed where the animals are assigned according to the forage offer and the nutritional demands of each category.

- Alternatives for the improvement of the property: Medium and long-term development strategies are outlined for the property (pastures, irrigation works, specialized grazing systems, etc.)

Sustainable Livestock

Inspiration

Ovis XXI was born with the objective of increasing the economic, ecological, social and human sustainability of value chains based on the ovine species.

Overall impact

OVIS 21 developed, together with The Nature Conservancy, the GRASS Regenerative and Sustainable Grazing Standard, as well as Improved Wool Improvement and Advanced Wool Classification Protocols. It is the primary responsible for the certification of its compliance by the producers.

GRASS 1.3 million hectares are already certified in 54 properties

Business benefit

Today the network brings together more than 160 producers and 22 cabins distributed in Santa Cruz, Tierra del Fuego, Chubut, Rio Negro, Neuquén, Buenos Aires and Corrientes in Argentina and also in the south of Chile and Uruguay. It is estimated that more than one million sheep carry the MPM genetics, in varying degrees of progress.

It is linked to Australia's MPM Breeding Group, a leading group of producers committed to being at the forefront of the breeding of a high-fertility, high-quality fine wool and butchery line.

OVIS 21 is the Hub in Argentina of the Savory institute. It specializes in Holistic Management, a livestock production technique that allows to double the profitability of a farm and recover the ecosystem from the regeneration of pastures.
